Dane Cook is funny. I also like that he's not afraid to let his audience know that he believes in god. It makes me feel like I'm not some cock sucking ass hole for believing what I believe.
New Stewart lee Comedy Vehicle Series is out now. It's stand up but with interludes where Stewart has his act/persona/whole life dissected by another comedian. Normally this was Armando Ianucci (wrote The Thick of It and Veep), but this time it's Chris Morris (Brass Eye, The Day today, Four Lions etc)..
It's really really good. He is just masterful at satirical stand up.
Just caught this for the first time last night. Lee was great as usual but, as a huge fanboy, the highlight for me was the Chris Morris interviews. I really hope he starts doing more things.
From a purely technical standpoint, he's the best ever. I liken it to Ray Allen and his jumper:
He's not the best player ever (obviously), but from a technical standpoint, that's a flawless jump shot that he obsesses over. And every time he misses, he needs to go back and understand exactly why.
Seinfeld will obsess over the length of a pause for over a year, until he's got the timing down to the exact optimal length based on results. Guy is a serious pro.
Yeah Burr is probably the best current comedian. I like him a decent bit more than Louis as a pure comedian. Louis is so much more than a pure comedian, but Burr's specials' and a few others make me laugh much harder.
Louis gives a preachy vibe sometimes imo. It's funny because one of Bill Burr's show is named "You people are all the same" but Louis' title would be something like "this is why you all suck and you should all listen to me". I'm probably the only who feels like that though.
I saw jay Leno live
Expected nothing , and was surprised how great he was
ah the modern opinion of jay leno.
if only people knew what a ****ing crusher he was in the 80s. He didn't get the job by not being a funny guy. Granted the tonight show was formulaic and extremely safe/vanilla but inside that guy is still a very very sharp comedian.
A lot of my favorites have been mentioned at length throughout the thread. I really, really dig John Mulaney as well, and somewhat less often Hannibal Buress. Hannibal is funny, but his delivery is not flawless and sometimes throws his act a bit off.
I hate Ralphie May with a great deal of passion. I just think that dude is 0% funny.

Yeah I saw Leno live a couple months ago as well @ the Mirage. My sentiments were the same as THAKID's. I thought the latter half of the show was a little meh though
Next time you do an open mic I will no doubt come out to see it. also, I laughed REALLY hard at the Saddam joke and also the Devil Worshiper joke as well. Keep it up!
thanks bro appreciate it.
I was up in the Bay Area for about 6 years (not including the 4 I spent at CAL) but had to move back down to SoCal bout 1.5yrs ago.
love the Bay Area but with online poker not really viable ATM I'm stuck down here for the foreseeable future.
