I’ve never seen his standup but I’ve always found Spade hilarious.

Felipe Esparza saying his Dad was a Lucha Libre wrestler will always be funny to me. "It was cool because when he hit us, it didn't really hurt."

Very excited to see Chris Rock's live Netflix special. I believe Netflix is also airing a live pre-show of some stand-ups from the Comedy Store in LA, just before the Rock show starts.

I think this is a great idea to air these comedy shows live, makes it feel like appointment viewing like in the old days before streaming and DVRs. I hope this will start a trend (I guess Louie was actually first, although that was not on a platform with the reach of Netflix).

Jim Gaffigan's kids story humor really cracks me up. I also love his bits on fast food. Well worth checking out on the Tube of You.

Chris Rock's ending to his special was awesome, really slammed Will Smith. Good special! Did anyone see the post show? I couldn't watch it live unfortunately.

I forgot about it. Looking forward to seeing it. I've heard the first half was meh and then it really picked up in the second half.

He started his show with a bit about how triggered people get. I had to shut it off.

I’m so tired of comedians talking about people being triggered or woke culture. Might as well be airplane humor at this point.

15mins in, about to turn it off. Just a rinse and repeat of what everyone has already joked about.

I didn't think it was funny at all. Uncomfortably so. Not much response from the live crowd until the very end.

Ending bit was OK, was fun to see him go off on Will and Jada. But not funny enough to make up for the weak 45 minutes that preceeded it. Not to mention Rock royally botched a Concussion joke from his bit about the slap.

I actually turned it off 20 minutes in and put on Dave Attel's old HBO special. Laughed my a** off. Joke after rapid fire joke, each one killing. Attel is a master. Then I went back and re-watched the rest of Rock's show. Meh, especially by comparison. Comedians really need to stop joking about political correctness and woke outrage. Even if you agree with them, it ain't that funny.

I love Chris Rock as much as the next guy but doing similar material as other comedians is far worse because Rock is a serial repeater.

Last 8 minutes was great though.

Related to the Chris Rock/Will Smith slap incident, I watched the Marlon Wayans special "God Loves Me" on HBO over the weekend. The entire set is based around the slap, since Marlon knew all 3 of them. As a premise for an hour of comedy, I was not optimistic.

Never had seen Marlon do standup but I thought the set was absolutely hilarious. One of the best comedy specials I've seen, and miles better than anything Rock did. Definitely worth a watch.

Not stand-up, but saw Penn & Teller the other night in Vegas. A lot of funny moments. Be here for another night if anyone else down here.

Agreed. Reminds me of Rogan's crew bitching about cancel culture and **** despite being millionaires.

Do they still stay after the show for pics and autographs? Love their act. Some very amazing tricks they do.

I believe so, but we had plans so we dipped. That's rad they do that. Crazy how long they've been together. Penn's super tall. It's rare for me to see someone even close to my height at 7'1 and I think he's like 6'6 or some ****. Was a nice change of pace.

Good to hear they are still great entertainment.

Would share a couple quick stories but I don't want to start crying at work.

ok im half buzzed and can tell one story about meeting Penn and Teller.

My son and I would go see them every couple of years, it was our thing.

Last time we went, my son gave Teller a twenty because they had a slot game that mentioned give them their cut when you see them.

He made a point to stop and say he would make an exception because it wasn't that much and was surprised anyone would actually be that honest and gave him the twenty back. plus signed the bill.

he went and told Penn the same thing and Penn told him " lets remove the bullshit. Crossed our "In god we trust" and signed it as well.

They are my hero's as far as im concerned.

New Mulaney announced for netflix April 25. Saw him live in October and it was amazing. Just talked about cocaine and rehab for 2 hours. Best part was a somewhat meta joke about touring northern US and then Canada and telling jokes that weren't funny as soon as he crossed the border since we don't venmo up here, so the spot where that joke would have been because a 9 minute introduction to transferring money from person to person via an app with a terrible interface and miserable customer service.

They did the thing where they bag your phone for the show, so I would expect most of the same jokes are going to be on the special and it will be 5*.

I love his comedy and writing but his delivery, his voice specifically, has become a bit grating. Has he dropped that at all? It would never stop me from watching something of his but I do hope it’s toned down.

Yeah he explained that a lot of that was due to the cocaine. The first thing he said when he came on stage was essentially "Yeah, you'll notice a difference in my mannerisms. Over the course of the show, see if you can figure out what's changed about me."
