It's on EPIX, which isn't the most common channel to have.

Tragedy Plus Comedy Equals Time? Pretty sure he shot that here in San Diego back in like the summer or fall of '13. Really wish I would've gone to it ( didn't try to get tickets but could imagine they went super quick). Supposed to be a cool venue too, Sprekles Theater..

Been binging on Marin on Netflix and find it really good. Sort of like Louie in terms of tone and its unrestrained-ness. Really like his assistant Kyle and there's great scenes w/ Kyle and Marc. The episode where Marc becomes Danny Trejo's AA sponsor felt a lot like a Louie episode to me but still found it enjoyable. MM's personality might be off-putting to some though.

Where can I find it on non-epix?

Yep. Thats the one. I was hoping to see it as well, but it was sold out way too fast.

I'm a big Maron fan. Still haven't seen his latest special. His last one, "This Has To Be Funny" is outstanding. Really dig the show too. It's got a lot of great moments and a lot of so-so moments, but its still finding itself.

Since it's Patton, it'll be floating 'round shortly after I'm sure. I'm surprised he didn't do the self-release think like Louis CK, Aziz and Gaffigan did with the $5 special. He's more popular as a stand-up then Aziz, and maybe Gaffigan, so he'd have banked on that, I think.

I was a huge fan of maron's earlier stand-ups but his last one was a pretty big let down.
I'll have to rewatch it before making final judgement as I was multi tasking, but def didn't grab my attention at any point.

I wasn't really a fan of Maron and typically avoided him until earlier this week. Saw his newest standup which was good, but nothing special. Was bored so decided to give his show a watch. I went from thinking it was too similar to Louie/Legit to absolutely loving it. I don't think his standup bits always come together was well as they could, but his show really melded nicely together.

I've heard it about 15-20 minutes too long, but I don't know anything else about it.

If you're talking about Thinly Pain, then yes, it was a bit long (like 95 minutes. Could've used some trimming). I loved it. Only stand up special of his I've seen but am a huge WTF fan (have heard every episode and some have listened to several times). Surprised RBK didn't find it that great, seeing that he's a fan of Maron's. I found it to be very engaging, insightful, funny and intriguing. I think a reason I liked it so much is bc my personality is very similar to Marc's in a lot of aspects and I can relate with his style of thinking/reacting/etc.

should've clarified better. its still better then the vast majority of stand up specials, i was just a HUGE fan of his earlier specials:

not sold out
tickets still available
final engagement
this has to be funny

that i was let down by thinky pain.
but like i said i need to re-watch it as i was multi tasking so missed a decent chunk.

but for instance had i watched one of his previous specials while multi tasking whatever else i was doing would've been abandoned they were so funny, whereas this one didn't really grab my attention n force me to concentrate.

overall tho ima big maron fan, and i've liked him since back when no one knew who the **** he was

Have any of you seen that Brody Stevens comedy central show? I get that smiling like a goon after everything he says is his schtick but god damn is it tilting. Also seems like he's gonna be smiling like that when he blows his brains out.

I saw him here in DC a couple months ago. It seemed like half the crowd loved him and the other half thought he was crazy and incredibly narcissistic.

even if you don't think he's insanely funny (which he is) you have to respect him for the sheer amount of incredibly high level new material he cranks out.
absolute genius.
that being said bill burr is criminally under rated.

I think Bill Burr in terms of volume and overall humor might be the current top. I find Louis CK to be overrated only because some people (probably through more recency bias than anything else) consider him to be the GOAT. He is very good, even to this day. He he as of the funniest bits I've heard. That said, I can probably name 5-10 current comedians who have funnier bits than my favorite Louis CK bits. He beats all in terms of longevity and volume, but people give a lot of his bits GOAT credit that if another comedian gave the same bit they might think he is more upper-middle of the road/above average.

I love Bill Burr. One of his podcasts that he did sometime in November he started it late and had a bunch of technical difficulties and said he had been out drinking a bunch of pints earlier in the afternoon and then proceeded to go on one of the best rant/comedy tangents I have ever heard in my life. For like 20 minutes he just ****ing rambled on about the most random **** ever and it was one of the funniest things ever.

I'll try to find it tomorrow.

im being nit picky, but i find conversations like "hes overrated because people think he's GOAT" to be kind of dumb (in general, not zeroing you out). if you think someone's funny, then they're funny. it's like saying, well bill russell is overrated because of michael jordan. i think, for comedy especially, if someones funny then they're funny and it doesnt matter who they compare to.

there are bits i laugh at way more than some louis bits, but if louis does a special or does a show nearby, you better believe im still gonna see/listen to it

I won't disagree with that at all. I don't really know how to describe it, so I'll use a horrible TV show analogy: I would rate him like The Shield in comparison to how many say its a top show; its great, better than most every other show, but it is nowhere near the Wire, Sopranos, BB (for me). Should I bash the show because its great for what it is, but other people think its better than it really is? Probably not, but it still irks me that people place a grade on it that I don't quite think it deserves.

And yeah, all that terrible analogy said, if I could get tix to something Louis put out, you bet your ass I'd be first in line trying to get tickets.
