Last year my #1 special was Rory Scovel's.
This year it's Bert Kreischer's "Secret Time." Talented, funny dude who reaches his peak after focusing solely on stand up. My wife, from a completely different background than me loves it. My brother, Bill Burr groupie, loves it. Opens great, finishes well leaving you wanting more, nice blend of one offs/quick liners and stories. I mean, it's just masterful and frankly took me by surprise.

Completely agree on Kreischer. Loved every minute of his special.

The screencaps have put me off, does he do the whole special with no shirt on?

Burnt Chrysler is def evolving into a great stand up comedian. He was kind of hit or miss but his last 2 shows were really good.

Gave the Tom Green thing every chance, turned it off. His delivery is just tentative and weak. And I like the guy otherwise tbh, have always been a fan.

The Sandler thing is like 6/10 with a few priceless moments. It's definitely a throw-back to his SNL days.

Bumpin mics so far definitely the best of the 3.

He did a set on one of the late night shows recently that I meant to post ITT. Not sure if I can explain why I find him so funny, he just IS. It is almost like he is the embodiment of every awkward socially moment I've ever had all tied up in a 5 minute set.

I've gone the opposite route by avoiding his podcasts for fear of ruining the special.

His wife being on is pretty hit-or-miss. If she goes all SJW on something, it's kind of boring but when she takes the piss out of Bill it's hilarious.

Anyway, the best special I saw this year was Jim Jefferies "This Is Me Now". Breaking up with the mother of his child was pretty good for his comedy. Demetri Martin: Live (At the Time) was a close second to me.

A close 2nd for me wrt to specials this year was the Daniel Sloss specials, both were great.

I shared the brilliance of Sloss here during the 2017 Fringe. Guy is absolutely dominant.

Gotta go with Sloss as well. Not sure what else is eligible for 2018, but that one stood out the most to me. I really enjoyed Bumping Mics and Sandler's specials, though.

Idk about both of Sloss' specials. I only watched the first one and found it semi-forgettable. In fact, I did forget to finish it now that I'm looking at my Netflix. I'll give him another chance.

But I'm not holding my breath for him or any British comedian of 2018 to top or even approach this:

Stewart Lee is an acquired taste when it comes to comedy. I think he's amazing but I've heard just as many people think he's pedantic.

Netflix should have Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle on it though.

Had never heard of Stewart Lee before, but I watched that entire 2 hour special and laughed quite a lot, despite not understanding at least 1/3 of the UK pop culture and political references.

Watched a few Daniel Sloss clips on yt and found him completely unfunny.

rbk i think you should try more, Sloss is pretty good.

He has a decent ted talk : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a-UUhW7-HU
and a ton of appearance on conan that were a good surprise to me before those netflix specials so I was pretty happy getting into those specials while you seems stuck on a bad impression

Spacey: well I definitely made the most tone deaf come back attempt of 2018.

Louis CK: hold my dick.

They're the kind of jokes I'd expect a drunk college kid to make at campus open mic.
