It's the comedy festival, so it's quality local comics that just haven't quite made it yet. I tried booking him for an upcoming show I have, but he lives in LA full time now. I believe unfortunately that was the only recording of it, but his Facebook posts have been awesome since then.

FWIW most comics hate contests and that night his set was easily top 3 and I have no idea how he didn't advance.

Yeah, that bit was great. Guy's got potential.

I need to find a comedian better than Bill Burr who I haven't seen yet.

Check out anything you can from Joe List. He is hilarious. He will usually open for a national headliner like Burr, CK, or Norton.

It was ok, but I guess I just couldn't get over that it seemed like it was Jesse Eisenberg doing a Louis C.K. impression.

Somewhat side note, but one of the best things about Spotify is the access to comedy albums. I like listening to an entire set rather than specific sketches (which is what Youtube or Pandora generally get you), so it's pretty great. Listened to a bunch of old Bill Cosby the other day.

Yeah, just noticed. And he's also uploading two more. Going to give them all a watch when I have the time. Really liked the teaser songs from the other 2.

OH SNAP!! Forgot about that. Saw the "God's Perspective" and thought it was brilliant. Thanks for the reminder.

Glad he was mentioned in this thread actually. I think the guy is absolutely amazing. Its hard for me to get into a comic with a gimmick, but for him, it's a useful tool. Even his earliest songs were hysterical. I'm continually impressed by his work.

I haven't seen a lot of him, but I've really liked everything I have. First saw him in Green Room with Paul Provenza (which btw is a must-watch for any comedy fan - great guests and great talks), and since that checked out some of his stuff on YouTube.

His CCP special really blew me away. So freaking smart. Same with "Words, Words, Words". Funny as hell, and really thought provoking.

And goddammit!! The songs are pretty damn good. Like Tenacious D

I know this guy from the DC comedy scene and he is said to be our area's next breakout star. He is moving to Los Angeles next month. We have done a few of the same shows.

I'm 9 minutes in and am loving the crap out of this special. Anyone else doing what he is doing would look like a freaking ******, but this dude is bringing the crap out of it.

Burnham is like Andy Kaufman in that he's more about performance than conventional stand-up. Love his work.

Exactly. That very well put. I tried to explain it to people before, and should've put it like that.

He certainly has potential. I always imagined that style of comedy to be hellish for longer bits. It's one thing to do 6-15 minutes of it, but a 40 minute set of those types of one-liners is such a challenge even from a memorization side of things. If I ever get back into it, I thought about opening a set with 1, but I could never build a set around that.

haha this was good, sort of reminded me of something Louie CK would do. The beginning was the funniest, but kind of tailed off at the end. Anyone have anything else from this guy?

there's always a few morons in the crowd that forget they're at a comedy show, but for the most part the crowd seemed to laugh pretty hard.

i liked his set a bunch. then again i'm a bleeding heart from CAL so wtf do you expect.
