I listen to comedy radio station a lot, a bunch of good bits ive heard from people who arent the standard famous comedians are Bill Burr, alonzo boudin, Patton oswald, patrice oneal
also patrice o neal and nick swardson are really good. some mexican guy who won the last comic standing was decently funny but i can't remember his name and only watched him once
No comic has ever made me laugh the way Carlin, Louis Ck, and Chappelle has.
Jim Jeffries, Bill Burr, Mitch Hedberg, and Bill Hicks are also great, but to me, a step below the top 3.
Also checked out Doug Stanhope last night after seeing him get praise from Ricky Gervais, and didn't find him too funny. Just seemed like a darker version of CK, without the perfect delivery that Louie has.

Hmm, Im a big Stanhope fan, but I can sympathize with someone who doesn't like him. However, Im going to have to disagree with your comparison. To me, for all the obscenity, all of Louie's comedy has a certain morality to it (and I think this is one of its great strengths). Stanhope, who I do not perjoratively call a voice of evil, is nearly the opposite; his comedy is all about tearing down all social order. He is like a tourguide into the nihilistic abyss.
Fan of a ton of those mentioned, but speaking of deadpan Todd Barry is hilarious (although this isn't his best clip; couldn't find a better one):
Another comic where the humor is all in the delivery is Tig Notaro:
Tig did a set right after she found out she had cancer that was pretty legendary. Louis CK released it on his website and it's definitely worth the $5.
David Cross is hilarious, but I can't get over his overuse of the word ****, which I myself overuse. It's one of those things that I started noticing and now can't ignore it.

Probably won't have a better stand-up performance than "I'm Telling You For the Last Time" though.
Birbiglia is very, very funny, although a different style. I like "story" comedy.
