Yeah, he does do that a lot, but I think he can change it up a little when needed.

Lots of successful standup comedians have a distinctive delivery style. Thoughts on Burr or Mulaney? Would you say they're one-dimensional? They definitely tell a lot of jokes the same way.

Yeah maybe because the way he does it really sticks out.
Anyways I like him and think his stuff is good and always appreciate when someone that's not white doesn't immediately resort to race and ethnic jokes.

Exception being Dave Chappelle and Patrice O'neal. But you gotta be pretty special to pull it off without it getting old.

Everyone saying how great Patrice was cause he's dead is old as well.

It's amazing how many comics talk about how great he was, and yet tell stories about how ****** he was to them and everyone else.

Idk I always thought Patrice was hilarious even when he was alive.

He has that style like he's just making sheit up and talking. Kinda like Louis CK in some of his stuff.

I remember Louis had a set where he had hecklers who thought he was just making stuff up on the spot. That's how you can tell your act is polished and smooth. Seems like you're just talking off the cuff when in reality every word and intonation is calculated.

Burnhams new special... Wow, hard to classify it with typical standup, but what a masterpiece.

I don't watch Russel Peters anymore. But I thought he was really funny and clever if I remember right.
Gabriel is delivering to me. Definitely a matter of taste.
Did you watch the fluffy goes to India? I thought it was hilarious. Maybe this will change your mind on him. But if you don't like him at all it won't.

Agree, I thought it did a fantastic job of capturing the existential angst of Covid, lockdowns, and just how generally sh***y the world seems these days. I've never even seen him before so had no idea what to expect, but I was pretty blown away by it.

Just saw about 2/3's of Inside. I'd say that's Bo's best sounding and most interestingly shot special. Also his weakest, to me.

In to also rave about the Bo Burnham special, even though I didn't particularly laugh much

It's a mix.

The nice thing is, you can watch the first 2 songs and know with 100% certainty if you're going to like it or not.

Thanks, might give it a shot. Normally can't stand musical comedy, with perhaps the exception of Tim Minchin (but even then it's almost more I enjoy the music than the comedy element).

bo special is on spotify in the next 24 hours or so. production quality was insanely high, that's one nice plus that this format has over a live recording in a theatre.

Watched Make Happy, also enjoyed it although not quite as much as Inside. Although the Kanye West rant is spectacular and on its own is probably as good as anything in Inside.

Listened to the Bo special. Was good but I certainly wasn't blown away. If you like Bo's style, and haven't heard of him, check out Tim Minchin. Hilarious and insane pianist.

He eased up on the political and overly self-aware stuff as the special went on. I was expecting to hate watch it and mock-laugh at the "woe is me"/ "everything is terrible"/ absurd idea that a rich 30 year old needs to lock himself inside for over a year to manufacture real struggle in his life sort of online millenial ethos that he exemplifies... but goddamn if that isn't the best special of the last 3 years. He Nash Equilibrium-ed "quarantine comedy," it cannot be beat. I hope everyone else who thought of doing something similar halts production immediately. His parodies of YouTube content creators is just *chef's kiss*

Bo Burnham Inside best special in a long time. I'm only 25 mins in and every song is so catchy and spot on hilarious
