I love that Louis did the Parkland stuff AGAIN in SJ yesterday. That'a boy. Word is he killed.

Cracks me up that some people came to protest and prevent the show.

Apatow isn't a real comedian. He's like Ricky Gervais: A guy who got to Hollywood in a different role but pretends to be a comedian to get that occasional one hour special.

Gervais has been doing stand up since the 90’s and is one of the best of all time. Apatow is a **** who just wants to keep his Mann happy.

I think that's the point that gets dismissed time and time again. He doesn't have any jokes about himself so he's unable to do that ordering. Don't think in Louie's case we can judge his comedy in a vacuum right now.

Gervais is a guy who helicopters down from his acting career to deliver an hour of material from time to time. He wouldn't be caught dead spending years grinding away and perfecting his work at comedy clubs.

Most of his material rings hollow to me. It's as though he goes, "Oh this is what people think is funny. I'll write about that." instead of writing what he truly believes to be funny and working on that until it's suitable for a special.

To be fair that's sort of an arbitrary way to define what a comic is. I loved Ricky's last special. Don't really care how it came to pass. The dude is funny, period.

Was at comedy cellar last night. Ron Binnington killed it. None of the others were great.

The dude didn't do standup for decades. He's just a straight up director who does a lil standup every couple of decades. Meanwhile Ricky has been putting out hours for as long as I've known about him and he just sucks at it. 2 entirely different people bro, 2 entirely different careers.

Wasn't the one story that started it where he brought two women up to his hotel whipped it out and started masturbating without asking and then blocked the doorway when they tried to leave?

I certainly don't remember hearing it that way. I thought he asked them, they kind of thought he was joking and said sure. Then they were shocked when he actually did it. I don't think he tried to prevent anyone from leaving though.

I know he's not edgy but I laughed a lot at Sebastian Maniscalco's new Stay Hungry special. It's more of the same, you know what you're getting - but it's funny as hell anyway.

Watched the first 15 mins of Ray Romano's Netflix special from the Comedy Cellar. Not funny at all. I actually saw him at the Cellar many years ago when he was starting out. Loved him. Not sure if he got worse or if my taste just changed over 30 years.

"We've heard from several sources that this shameless funnyman whips [his penis] out at the most inopportune moments, often at times when his female companions have expressed no interest in watching him go at it. A representative example: At the Aspen Comedy Festival a few years ago, he invited a female comedy duo back to his hotel room. The two ladies gladly joined him, and offered him some weed. He turned it down, but asked if it would be OK if he took his dick out.

Thinking he was joking (that's exactly the kind of thing this guy would say), the women gave a facetious thumbs up. He wasn't joking. When he actually started jerking off in front of them, the ladies decided that wasn't their bag and made for the exit. But the comedian stood in front of the door, blocking their way with his body, until he was done."

I think that account is full of ****.
the ladies themselves said he never stopped them from leaving and in fact they left on their own after giving him permission and he did the deed but they never felt in fear for their safety or that he was forcing them to be their against their will.

the outrage was that ppl felt like he used his "power" and fame to coerce women into giving consent to protect their careers.

there was not a single accusation of him forcing himself on anyone or forcing anyone to watch and several reports of him asking being refused and accepting the refusal.

not saying what he did wasn't super creepy and I'm not knowledgeable enough to speculate on how much his fame influenced his victims, but to lump him in with the actual rapists is going to far imo.

It was mainly overdone Asian stereotypes. I got bored about 15 minutes in and stopped watching.

I've tried to get into this guy's work but for whatever reason, it doesn't work for me. I see the humor but I don't laugh. Might be something wrong with me.

I wish Glenn Wool would get more exposure. I saw him at the Fringe in 2017 and then he opened for Doug Stanhope when he came to Glasgow. In both instances, he crushed.
