No, not "whatever we can."

We should take reasonable actions to help those in genuine need. That doesn't mean allowing Tad, III's pet duck to **** all over the floor of his dorm room at UC Berkeley.

Most have a layover in Detroit or Denver.

***That doesn’t mean the animals are accorded carte blanche to act like utter animals, however. They are expected to conform to the same rules applied to human residents: No biting or mauling, spitting venom or defecating in hallways, let alone blasting music at 3:00 am in accompaniment to a beer pong tournament.***

***One freshman at Washington State University was allowed to bring a 95-pound pig into her dorm—and, because the pig refused to use the stairs and was stressed out by the freight elevator, wound up staying in the second-floor dorm room and using a litter box. “The other students thought the pig was kind of cool, “ Hannah Mitchell, the dorm’s residential director at the time, told The New York Times, “but less cool when it began to smell.”***

Some chance of that.

So, an emotionally stressed pig that's confined to a dorm room does his business in a litter box that starts smelling like pig ****.

What an unexpected turn of events.

A duck's gonna duck. Can't blame him for being a duck. But the kid needs a slap upside the head and an explanation that the universe doesn't revolve around him. At some point people are going to quit coddling him and he'll have to learn that sooner or later.

I witnessed this on a flight from Santiago, Chile to MIA flying w/ AA. I thought it was only on domestic flights within the US but apparently nope. People back in France didn't believe me when I told them the pet was prescribed.

So what if the flight is full, and the person in the seat next to the dog and the emotionally challenged person does not want to be in close proximity to an animal?
Fear of dogs or severe allergies could be a problem.

but what about THEIR FEELINGS

id honestly never ****ing even flown in a plane til 4 years ago. there is nothing imo that would cause anxiety for me after multiple flights. i was excited af for my 1st flight to vegas, thats about the only feeling either way i remember.

a strangers huge dog next to me would probably be the only thing to cause "anxiety". even still im not that much of a pussy. it would just suck and id feel uneasy the whole flight. I SHOULD PROBABLY BRING MY PET AMIRITE.

Airlines have guidelines that vary. I read one that basically said in that circumstance they would put the dog in a carrier in the climate controlled luggage compartment with all the other pets.

Let me answer that.

The airline will try to make reasonable accommodations. They will ask other passengers if they would be willing to move. I have to check the updated regulations, but I believe that a US airline is only required to make reasonable accommodations for 4 ESAs. Additional ESAs may be required to fly as baggage at no cost in a crate.

You cannot discriminate against pitbulls or any breeds.

What is coming next is that some people have emotional issues that require multiple emotional support animals. A licensed healthcare professional can prescribe more than one ESA to a patient and the airline has to make reasonable accommodations for each one.

Can't discriminate against breeds but they have to fit in the space available. Alaska Air's guidelines:
Quote:
Your service animal must occupy your own space and cannot be in a seat. Also, they cannot obstruct aisles or areas that must remain clear for emergency evacuation. If your service animal does not fit the area available, one of our customer service agents will:

Find an alternate flight with more room for you and your service animal
If your service animal is not needed during the flight, we will transport your service animal in a crate that you provide, in the climate-controlled cargo area of the aircraft. The animal will be immediately returned to the traveler upon deplaning. There is no additional charge for service animals that travel in the cargo area of the aircraft.

Maybe people that are that much of a wackadoodle should not fly commercial.

***The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, among others, suggests limiting emotional support animals to dogs, cats and rabbits, while other organizations, including the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, would like to add birds to that list (but not chickens, ducks or turkeys).***

***Some advocacy groups say passengers shouldn’t be required to carry a letter from a mental health professional confirming the need for an animal because it would be stigmatizing.***

What will these people do when their emotional support animal eventually dies? What's stage two? An Emotional Support Little Person who gives you backrubs and tells you how awesome you are all day?
