in HS a few of us went to the college bookstore near our school and sold our calc and spanish textbooks. then we went back to school the next day and told sob stories of getting our bookbags stolen and got new sets. think we all came out about 40 bucks ahead.

I love scamming friends who are casual sports fans with sports bets of different odds. For example, for this past Super Bowl I bet a couple friends that Giants get the ball first for even money. This bet was actually around -180 odds and pretty much a lock for me, considering the Patriots always defer if they win the coin toss.

^^^ lol

I have a friend who scammed me a few times at dinner

1.) 3 friends go out for dinner
2.) 2 friends pay with cash
3.) 3rd friend (scammers) says “I’ll pay whatever is left because I only have a card.

First 2 friends that pay with cash over pay their portion by 2-3 to cover tip
Scamming friend just leave 1 dollar tip.

So if bill is $45.
Friend one pays 18
Friend 2 pays 18
And scamming friend will pay 45-18-18= 9 plus a 1 or 2 dollar tip.

cliffs. I pay 18. Friend 2 pays 18. Scammer pays 10-11

First 2 years at a PennState satellite campus my mom would give me money to buy my school books. I'd go in and buy the books while stealing duplicates of them. I'd go back the week after when the boss guy wasn't working and return the duplicates. I'd get free books plus the money for them from my mom.

Yeah yeah in before that was theft blah blah, but $300-$400 a semester is a lot for a broke college kid

One time, when I was in college, I put on a ski mask and hid in an alley by this dark street close to campus. This drunk girl came walking by, and I jumped out and screamed, "Give me your money, bitch!" She started crying, like I was going to murder her, and she gave me her wallet and I ran away. There were like eighty bucks in it. I was like "Lol Scame."

When i was younger this shop near me used to pay 10p for every empty bottle of Newcastle brown ale and 20p for glass pop bottle off the pop man

Me and my mates used to go around the pubs at the back and steal crates of these empty bottles and go sell them used to make loads (for the age we was)

In high school the vending machine used to have 2 coke at the top if you put your money in hold the top button and keep hitting the second one 2 or 3 used to come out

lol. Reminds me of back in the day when you could ask for a courtesy cup of water at McDonalds, and then fill it up with soda at the drink machines. CLASSIC

if you can't discern the difference or are going to pretend you've never nabbed 5$ out of your sister's piggy bank when you were a kid, go ahead, but don't tard this thread up. ofc most of the things described here are going to be theft, what scam isn't? What possible day-to-day petty scam can you think of that isn't some form of theft?

this place never ceases to amaze me.
I have never stolen as far as I can remember.

I am entertained by this thread. My problem with some posts here is that some people sound proud of their "scam" and some of them aren't scams, they're simple theft (like the guy above who stole books from his college bookstore -- if you're just stealing books, what's the scam? Or the guy who steals water bottles from Subway -- there's no scam involved in taking something and then not paying for it). Scams by definition involve some trickery. Straight stealing, not so much.

a solid and legal "scam" is the one adam posted about, getting an oil change every day to avoid having to use the expensive parking lot. i can almost guarantee that they weren't changing the oil every day, though, not that he would have really cared.

Back in HS Krispy Kreme would offer a free donut for every A on your report card. So i made a bunch of copies of my report card and would hit the krispy kreme every couple of days for my 6 free donuts. So unhealthy, but so delicious!

It's not a scam. It's just smart. Though not environmentally friendly if they really were changing the oil every day. So I guess you could say he was scamming the environment. But he wasn't scamming any person.

Fwiw that guy was given the opportunity to pay, asked to leave and wouldn't, cussed out the manager, and had priors.

I don't endorse petty theft and don't have the stomach for it, have a very well off friend who still does the self checkout scam all the time I just know she's gonna get nailed for it sooner or later don't know why she thinks it's worth it.

Just in case anybody missed it, doubledowns dads angleshoots/"scams"/stinginess from the stingy thread are hilarious reads:

This one time, me and a friend broke into a house through the basement door, then crept up the stairs. The old guy who lived there came downstairs with a shotgun, but I wrestled it out of his hands and whipped him with the stock. We tied him to the banister and emptied out the entire place, all these family heirlooms and silver. I'll never forget the look on his face as he watched us through the blood dripping from his head wound and realized he was being totally scamed.
