I drove from Fort Worth to Wyoming to see this and it was totally worth it. Took my 97 year old grandmother with us. She's such a trooper. My uncle lives in Laramie and I reserved all his spare rooms about a year ago for this. His kids all live in Denver and they drove up and camped at Glendo Lake in WY where we joined them Sunday night so as to not have to fight traffic Monday morning. Traffic in Wyoming? Yes! It took us 7 hours afterwards to make the 2 hour drive back to my uncles house. Still, it was well worth it.
I made a conscious decision to not take any photos of totality. There will be much better pictures than I could take online and I'd much rather just experience it instead of having my face stuck in a screen for that brief time. I did take a picture and video of the crescent tree shadows someone mentioned. That was very cool. Also, one of the guys that was with us got a great shot of the moment of totality. Here ya go:

The tree shadows were the coolest part, outside of totality. Pre totality the crescents were one direction and then post totality they were the opposite direction. Very cool.
The 2024 one is coming directly over my house although I will be out on the edge a bit. I'll have to go somewhere to get as many seconds as possible of totality. Very much looking forward to it!
