As Batman, in the 1966 movie, at the end of the 'Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb' scene, he explains his human sympathy for people in bars and his reason for clearing the waterfront bar when he discovered the bomb: 'They may be drinkers, Robin, but they're also human beings. They may be... salvaged.'



As for the actorly aplomb required to deliver such lines... well, it's like when he picked up the phone and said, 'Wayne Mansion... Yes, this is millionaire Bruce Wayne speaking...'
