I did a search for it and couldn't find it on here. Are there any people on here that work for these companies? I've been doing Door Dash for about 3 weeks and Instacart for about a week. So far I enjoy Door Dashing more. Also, comments and complaints from customers would be welcome. What city do you work in, etc?

I work in a major suburb of a big midwestern city in the USA.

About $13 an hour doing Door dash after gas. I haven't kept good records with Instacart though.

I redid the math on the week I just tallied, it's actually $14 an hour after gas.

I used to use DoorDash, but found it was more tilting to use than just going and picking it up myself.

Biggest gripes were pre-tipping and inconsistent quality of service.

I use Eat Street. It's about $15 more an order when you include delivery fee the extra fees (don't know why they have two sets of fees), tip, and food markup (food is more expensive than the normal menu). I use it all the time, which just shows how lazy I am. It's like an addiction, I want to stop because it's hard to justify spending that much more per meal, but it really is so damn convenient.

I agree. With food, the problem is that you can't really send it back because then you wait another hour to eat.

We used Instacart for a while which was very convenient for getting stuff like 6 gallons of milk when Target had them for $1.99 for a while and I didn't feel like carrying that stuff. But with half of our orders something went wrong and I got tired of sending people back to Target which was a 20 minute drive back then. And then there was that Christmas lights order that I posted about in the past..

It's also frustrating to do the shopping. Every order there is some item that isn't in stock and you have to text the customer about a replacement.

I don't mind paying more. I know I'm paying for convenience. But if I'm going to pay more I actually want it to be convenient.

So is Eat Street consistent?

Yeah. It depends on the restaurant, but food usually gets to my house in 35 mins. Some take longer. Orders are always correct. It's a good service. I live in a smallish city (70K), and Eat Street is the only real option here. The other services serve limited number of restaurants.

What kind of relationship do you have with the restaurants as a Dasher? Good/bad/varied? Any anecdotes of DD posting restaurant menus w/o the restaurant's permission?

I've used Instacart and Amazon (Whole Foods) about 25 times each since pandemic. Can't complain - great time saver and grocery store avoider. Sometimes things are out, but never really have much of a problem with shopper making errors. (I've picked up a couple things that weren't mine too).

Amazon is pretty lenient with returns - I ordered ground pork, got ground lamb instead, and they just gave me refund with no need to return it. Although I need a recipe for ground lamb now.

The best is Walmart grocery delivery, if in you area. It is here in Las Vegas. They use Postmates for the delivery but hand pick the items themselves and they do a great job. If an item is out they replace with something close and you always get the better deal. They have the cheapest prices on everything also.

They give you bigger size for same price or more expensive brand for same price, etc. and before delivery you get an email with any changes and you can cancel anything you don't want before delivery.

If you get delivery and there was any problem, whether you don't like something or missing item, you just log in and report it for refund and get instant refund. Plus pay $98 or 1 year and get unlimited delivery for free, just tip.

Never used Instacart, but I agree with the Amazon groceries. I use that pretty often.

The wife does Instacart shopping. A lot better than getting sucked into some MLM "I'm a business owner" BS. Works when she wants, and she enjoys shopping. Doesn't clear a huge amount but gets her out of the house.

I don't go to the same place enough times to develop a "relationship" per se. But some seem put off by them except for Chikflia which have very nice people running them.

Do you ever go to places that aren't corporate/franchised? Would be curious to hear about those experiences.

Last week my wife’s black coworker (singular, everybody else in the department is white, Indian or Asian) mentioned half-jokingly that people stopped approaching her for help when she’s shopping at Target because now they think she’s working for Instacart.

What I never understood is why couples(husband and wife) work together delivering for postmates or instacart. Now 2 people are working for $12/hour total or whatever. Couldn't the other find another way to make money or at least be home relaxing watching TV? lol

Because I have Walmart Plus I can now order things for regular shipping with no minimum order and not be charged for shipping. The other day I had a order of like 5 items and for some reason they put 4 of them in 1 box and delivered it next day with Ontrac and the other Item that was a bag of Doritos, they used Postmates to deliver. lol

And the best part was, it was a couple in a Mercedes delivering my Doritos. LMAO

Did they put it in a standard Walmart bag instead of any real packaging? That's how they do it for us now half the time.

The other day they apparently delivered after 9PM and the stuff sat on our porch overnight at -10F. Not ideal.

Yes, in the normal walmart plastic bag. On all my deliveries from Walmart no matter who they use to deliver, I get an email saying it was delivered. But I normally get notification from front gate before they get here unless it was Fedex or UPS, etc.

Is that with or without the tips? How much are they paying without the tips?
