By the door, business shoes, sneakers double knotted, sandals (without the disgusting toe thong), and in the bedroom, dress shoes.

Sandals for grilling ftw, barefooters obv don't have winter or no balls

lolcarpetaments. Hardwood for life. Shoes optional. I usually take them off if I'm lounging, but always wear them when working/cooking and usually if walking around.

Wear some comfortable shoes, FFS, if they are like a "hair shirt for your feet." I don't wear work shoes around the house, but not "indoor only" shoes either. Almost always deck shoes.

Who has carpet in their living room anyway, like you have carpet in your kitchen and toilet as well!?

Nope. Don't want the filth from outside coming inside. We use slippers inside.

If other people's responses surprise you one way or the other, you probably haven't traveled all that much. Where I am, typically shoes are kept on unless the host specifically asks you to do otherwise (or they're good friends chilling out for a long while). But you don't have to travel very far to areas where the reverse is standard.

I have no problems with shoes indoors excluding the obvious cases where you've got snow or mud or something you're going to track in. We have two dogs so we essentially have to clean floors pretty much daily anyway, and our house layout and lifestyle would have us taking shoes on and off nonstop. Plus, between the front door, back/deck door, patio and staircase to the basement, we'd need piles of shoes all over the place.

That said, no problems kicking around in socks in the morning or toward the end of the day after dinner.

If I'm home im almost certainly barefoot.

My brother, on the other hand, is likely to be wearing shoes if he isn't in the shower. Will frequently sleep in a recliner while wearing shoes.

Socks? You must have stinky feet. Just go barefoot as often as possible.

He and his son definitely need to start sitting to pee.

Whatever manly confidence one gets from standing to pee is completely erased by cleaning a bathroom 5 times a day.

Not sure who wins this one. I walked through a field, that had a **** ton of stickers/burrs, wearing flip flops. I didn't realize a **** ton of them were lodged in the bottom of my flippy flops. I walked across a beige carpet in my place, with the flip flops on, and now a bunch are stuck in the carpet and I can't see them. So for the time being I am an inside shoe wearer, but have learned my lesson.

I hope part of that lesson is to wear something a bit more appropriate than flip flops when walking through fields.

Wearing shoes in your house is gross and trashy.

Slides inside FTW.

(This coming from a 60+ year old guy. As you age, the natural cushioning on the bottoms of your feet diminish. Barefoot walking becomes painful. Wear supportive shoes/slides wherever possible is the advice I would tell my younger self now.)
