I couldn't expect to pay the same for contacts for my entire life (as some point the brand I was using would be obsolete or something) but to do PRK on both my eyes equated to roughly 14 years worth supply of my monthly contacts (not accounting for any health benefit savings, which would make it a longer payoff but whatever). Just bite the bullet and get laser eye while you can still enjoy its benefits.
