people who hate the daily procedure of taking out/putting in contacts should really look into silicone hydrogel continuous wear lenses...depends on the person but you can wear them 24 hours a day for up to a month, for most of the year i can't even tell that i'm wearing contacts

I have glasses that I wear for driving at night and going to the movies but that's pretty much the only time I use them.

Daily contact lenses. Gets somewhat expensive but I don't have to deal with the hassle of cleaning them and ****. I have a old, crooked and not-strong-enough pair of glasses I use at home, mostly in the evenings, but I never wear them outside. Been meaning to buy a new pair someday but haven't got around to do it.

I can't handle contacts either... I didn't realize until recently that prescription glasses were about a billion times cheaper if you buy them online instead of a place like a lenscrafters. Since I discovered that I've had a few different models/colors.

I wear my contacts whenever I go out to social events, school, etc. I don't like the way I look in glasses so I only wear them when watching tv or when I wake up in the morning.

Im 33 and have never needed glasses and probably have better vision than most if not all of my friends who do have them.

My mom is around 60 and can still see fine w/o glasses and my dad didnt need them til around his mid-40s.

Have you actually had an exam? It's pretty common for people to not realize they could see better.

there's a ton of these places. zenni optical, goggles 4 u, 39 dollar glasses are the ones i remember. if you google 'glassy eyes' you'll find a guy who blogs about this stuff, but he gets paid to do it.

when you order online you need your prescription, including something called a PD (the distance between your pupils in mm). from what i've read many eye docs are reluctant to give it up because 1.) the only reason you need it is to buy glasses from the internet and 2.) they're attached to a retail outlet and they don't want to lose your business.

i haven't yet tried to get my PD, i'm lazy and sticking with my 8 year old pair of glasses.

an interesting bit of trivia: luxottica owns lens crafters, pearl vision, and the glasses place at sears and other department stores, and probably some others. it's kind of a hidden monopoly.

I use http://www.goggles4u.com/ there are various people that review the sites. You aren't going to get any designer frames or anything but that never mattered to me.

I wear glasses with transition lenses, they're awesome, its much more convenient than switching from sunglasses to regular glasses or putting the sunglasses over them.

I have never had an exam since elementary school. I am pretty sure it could be better although I would doubt anything life changing.

Yes I did, and at first when I got them, I was so embarassed to have to wear them. It was such a crushing blow to my ego. However, you realize you're just a small part of a larger crowd and after awhile I didn't even think about it anymore.

The day before graduation was the first time I saw my parents in 4 months. I definitely wasn't going to be wearing them in front of them, and all of the other parents so during our company ceremony I just went down and everything was blurry. Then on graduation day I got my contacts out and I got one in, and then I was trying to get the other in and it ripped. I was pissed, but I think they got way too soft from sitting in saline for 4 months without being used. I just threw them both away and went through the graduation ceremony with everything blurry. I pretty much couldn't see anything, but I couldn't bear to go through the ceremony wearing those ugly brown glasses.

Both contacts and glasses.

I had glasses when I was around 10 and wore them 'til I was about 14. Then I only wore contacts from age 14-28, and didn't even own a pair of glasses, although my friends always said it was HORRIBLE to wear contacts as much as I did. My optometrist always said my eyes were strong though.

Then I got an eye infection and was forced to get glasses for a month, and I vowed that as soon as I could go back to contacts, I would throw these glasses in a drawer and never use them again. But then I realized how great glasses are for lazy people like myself, and people said they really suited me... so here I am, wearing glasses all the time.

I still wear contacts if I am going to play poker, or anything social, as someone else mentioned. But if I'm having a lazy day at home, or just going to work, I don't bother with contacts anymore.

Wore super thick ones from about age 7 forward - I always found contacts super uncomfortable, and was like the guy who said he couldn't really picture himself without glasses. Finally went for LASIK in 2003 and trashed the glasses immediately, and have never been happier with a purchase in my life.

My eyes used to get super dry with contacts. Been 100% glassed for 5 years now, but may go back to contacts part time

I wear both, but rarely wear the glasses outside. Especially not for sports. I used to break like 3+ pairs a year when I was younger.

Wear contacts.

I use day and night lenses that are supposed to be 30 days and nights, but I pretty much leave them in until they fall out. They are super comfortable, and I virtually never take them out unless I go to the beach, or if my eyes are itchy to the point where my eyes need a rest.

I pretty much never wear my glasses ever, unless I have my contacts out and need to drive, or if I'm trying to look smart.

Exact same. I had coke bottle glasses for 25+ years. Getting rid of them was a great day.

I can't speak for Punker, but my distance vision has been improving continually since surgery, I had some minor clouding that has cleared up. The one negative is that before the surgery, I could make out very fine details up close. My microscopic vision is greatly reduced now, but it's a trade-off I am very happy to accept.

If you're thinking of getting Lasik, sooner is better than later. You'll kick yourself for waiting. Best $2k or so I ever spent, and wish I had gotten it done years sooner.

Contact in the left eye and intraocular lens in the right eye.

Shame on OP for not including my special case in his pole.

even if you think you see perfectly, you should hve regular eye exams. eye docs not only refract, but they look at your eye health and can catch eye diseases (glaucoma, etc) as well as other conditions including brain tumors.
