One of those lucky people with good enough vision. I've never had an eye exam and have thought maybe I ought to. The reason I haven't done it is that I pretty much never get headaches unless I'm hungover (they say that's a sign) and to be honest, I find it hard to fathom that my vision could be any better than it is.

If my vision was bad, I think I'd have to have the laser thing done. I just can't do with anything that might be considered jewellery/accessory. No hats, no sunglasses, no watches. I don't even like wearing anything (inc. socks) on my feet unless I have to. Note that I do stick to societal norms and count not being in my own home as a time when I "have to" wear footwear.

Contact wearers: Has anyone worn Acuvue Oasys and found some other brand better? My eyes still get dry wearing these from time to time.

Guys - I find myself squinting when trying to read text off a TV across the room. Not something that affects me day to day but I'd like the option of some glasses to help when watching TV, in a lecture etc. What's the best way to find out what strength glasses I need & the best way to buy them? I wouldn't need to take these out with me on an evening so I'm just looking for something functional.

I've reached the stage where I need bifocals but I've been putting it off. I should go to an optometrist but I'm lazy and just taking my glasses off to read stuff up close works fine for me.

I wear glasses because I ****ed my eyes up with contacts.

I slept in contacts a few too many times and I noticed that my vision was getting worse when I had none in. I took a recommended 6 months off of using them and went back to them to which my eyes just burned when I put them in and I thought I was gonna die. A couple of years passed and I tried again. Same thing happened. I miss contacts.

Have contacts, have worn them for 16 years or so. You get used to putting them in and taking them out pretty quickly, within a few years or so. Definitely want to get LASIK someday though.

Previously a monthlies contact wearer for many years, no issues. Got PRK 18 months ago, best life decision ever and best money spent.

Glasses are the worst of all options.

I couldn't expect to pay the same for contacts for my entire life (as some point the brand I was using would be obsolete or something) but to do PRK on both my eyes equated to roughly 14 years worth supply of my monthly contacts (not accounting for any health benefit savings, which would make it a longer payoff but whatever). Just bite the bullet and get laser eye while you can still enjoy its benefits.

There is a LASIK thread. Or there was. Definitely was worth it for me. And it has been awhile since I had it done.

I've worn corrective lenses since age 8. Wore glasses from ages 8-19 and exclusively contacts ages 19-27. Contacts began to cause eye irritation if worn over 5 hours, so I reverted to glasses; I now only wear contacts for athletic activity or dates.

Since I was in third grade.

At least three times they've kept me from getting splashed in the eyes with blood, which is nice.

I hate eyeball issues, retained tampons and lung butter about equally, so the idea of jamming something into my eyeballs daily seemed suboptimal

I just had a friend who left her contacts in for too long and ended up getting an infection in 1 or both eyes. She had to take off work for a couple of weeks, work in getting eye exams and eventually surgery. Her finances were gutted over the holidays and her vision was all jacked up before the surgery. Scary stuff man as she was closer to being blind that having any kind of decent vision.

LASIK 10+ years ago and still seeing 20/15. Best money I ever spent and it's not even close.

Yep, wear glasses. Used to wear contacts, but I ****ed up my eyes from wearing them too often/sleeping in them. Now, I can't keep lenses in for longer than 45 minutes.

I am interested in corrective surgery, but I'm waiting for the field to advance a bit more as well as waiting for my eyes to level off (still diminishing).

Glasses... always. Specially if I want to see @ 150mph+

As someone who had horrible vision, got PRK, and then 10 years later I’m at the point where I need to wear glasses and contacts again because I’m 20/40 in one eye and 20/60 in the other, I cannot recommend surgery enough. Life was so much better and I really want to get a touch up surgery

I have glasses but only wear them at night while driving so I don’t murder anybody and when I play golf. Need to know where to go look for the ball. It’s never where I meant for it to go.

Other than that, I just deal with not being able to see at a distance. I don’t like wearing them.
