A buck a head if all the server does is bring drinks and occasionally removes a plate. If the server is more involved or really hustling, they earn more commensurate to their efforts.

I don't know what buffets ya'll frequent outside of Vegas but there's one buffet near me that's more than 10.99/person and it's only 14.99. A couple bucks for an $11 buffet is pretty standard. I don't know how things work elsewhere but most buffets here don't expect their employees to live on tips. They are paid normal wages.

I don't tip the bell boy because I'm a man and I can carry my own ****.

Yup. It's not 50 buck meal at a restaurant good, but it's worth the 10-15 bucks it costs easily.

it's aight to decent....in context, it is much better than all of the cheap buffets in LV.

oops forgot the tipping aspect> yes u should tip. at least $1 per person for plate cleanup. AND more if your service is better.

like a couple others have mentioned, if your server is prompt in refilling your drink and you're needing it refilled 2-3 times and they remove your plates fairly quick what is the big difference between that and a "regular" server? Taking your order? Thats the easiest part of the job. 25% is very nice but at least leave them a couple bucks for their effort. Especially if its busy.

Howard, don't let these Neanderthals deceive you, Golden Corral is horrible, horrible food. Stay away if you respect your body, and your taste buds.

As far as places like Golden Corral, they tend to vary by location. I've been to cheap buffets that were well-maintained and therefore passable, and I've been to cheap buffets that were inundated with insects and poors.

In defense of Golden Corral I wanted to say I ate there once after a week doing the BSA 50 Mile Afoot/Afloat (hiking/canoeing 50 mi combined) eating MREs and it was ****ing awesome on that occasion.

$5 is my standard buffet tip. I'm just happy that I'm the person being served and not the person serving. It's not the greatest job.

And, really, what's $5 these days?

I just tipped 25% at a Buffet (that costed about 40 bucks) so maybe I'm too generous, but I certainly think tipping something is warranted, even if it's less than your normal tip.

I've always gone with the standard of 10% or $1/drink refill (whichever is more) as the minimum and I often tip more than the minimum.

Definitely should tip. Not a full 20%, but should give $2/person at least. The only thing they aren't doing that you'd get in a normal restaurant is write down your order and bring it out. Still doing 2 of the 3 other main functions of a waiter.

Obv tip. Very downtrodden individuals (in many cases) are cleaning up your messy table.

I got comped a couple free buffets at the Orleans, so my old lady and I went. The food was so terrible that I left hungry. However the 60ish year old lady that handled our table was so upbeat I left her $10. Can't ****ing imagine being positive when your job is working taking care of mostly ****ty customers and cleaning up their plates of embarrassing food.

Interesting, as I've always thought the opposite. "This $60 meal for two barely required more service than the $7 bowl of pho I had yesterday"
