Seems like a slow start to the new LC thread. Now that the penis talk is over you can all get on deez nuts.

Liquor store has a sign promising to pay $40 to anyone if they’re under 40 and they fail to ID you. I’m under 40 and they failed to ID me. I couldn’t bring myself to call it out. Anyone here collect on this?

It’s one thing to hold a company to a service guarantee, but hell if I care if they’re taking over-the-top precautions against selling to minors.

There are easier ways to make forty dollars and now we are back to the penis talk.

I mean you probably **** that cashier's life up a bit for the $40. I'd tell them to be more careful.

That was a significant consideration too. Not that there was more than a few seconds to decide. It was more of an overall feeling that I’d feel icky accepting the $40 just for helping police a company rule that reaches further than it needs to.

Flip side of this is a few months back I joined another player who was making a quick run to the liquor store on the break between levels in our home tourney. He bought his beer, I tried to buy my single beer and the cashier carded me but I had left my wallet at the house. They obviously do it as a 100% of the time policy because I am mid-40s and look late 30s on my best day best in the dark.

He would not relent. My buddy tried to buy it and he wouldn't sell it to him. I was pretty disappointed. I wanted that beer. That's the direction you would be contributing to.

Tbf id never have guessed you were under 40 either
10-03-2018 , 04:41 AM
I'd definitely bring it up as an "lol you better be careful I'm 39!" not expecting anything but indirectly making them more careful

I’d have taken the 40.

LKJ,

how is your kitty doing?

Lapka,
He’s a terrorist.

No, really he’s a very sweet cat, just very energetic and demanding of attention, and I’m a premature grumpy old man. It’s been an adjustment.

On the plus side I'd assume a terrorist would be quite a good mouser.

I have now a mental image of 30th LKJ distracted from pretending to be an old grumpy dude by something like

I was carded twice in the last couple of weeks, rarely happens any more (policy in Sweden is to card anyone who looks 25 or younger). Once was because of the company I was with, but the other time I was alone.

Carding people up to 40 sounds pretty ridiculous.
10-03-2018 , 12:03 PM
It is. While a person could eyeball me and reasonably guess a range of ages that span both sides of 40, zero chance I'm going to turn out to be underage.
10-03-2018 , 12:23 PM
I'm in my late 40's, have grey highlights, and still get carded weekly. It's incredibly annoying. The part that really makes me want to smack them with a handle is when I hand over the ID and they search for the birthdate.

Fine, I get that they need to prove they ID'd me but going the extra mile to read the birthdate to make sure, when I'm pushing 50, is so stupid.

The $40 probably comes from the clerk in some manner rather than the owner. I'd have passed as well under the stated circumstances.

I've been carded at over 50. I'm holding up pretty well, but yeah, it's ridic. Otoh, I can see a cashier just going with a card everyone policy instead of looking at people.

I was with a couple of guy friends a few months ago - we're all early 40s. The bouncer carded me and one of my friends, and then turned to my other friend and said, "No, you're ok". He was so pissed, he pulled out his ID and insisted that the bouncer card him
