I bought a Roku TV in January 2017. One year warranty, extended by another year since I bought it with Amex. Remote went on the fritz a few weeks ago. I called Amex to see if I could file a claim for the cost of a new remote. I even made it clear that I'm not asking for a full refund, just enough (maybe $20) for a new Roku remote.

Got an e-mail today. They are giving me a credit for the full cost of the TV. Remotes for everyone!

That's funny, I also had a Roku TV go bad after just over a year - wireless stopped working. I bought it with Amex, but decided it would be ridiculous to file a claim. I just bought a Roku stick and everything is fine. But now I'm thinking I was stupid for not filing.

Wound up with a pm for this. I've learned my lesson.

As long as you have the receipt (had mine in e-mail, since I ordered online), it's an easy process. Just have to wait a while.

At the same time I had that claim filed, my other big TV started going bad - a shadow had appeared on the screen. I bought it four years ago, but it was the one thing I've ever bought an extended warranty for ($60 to extend it to five years through Costco). I had already filed a claim once when the picture went out and they replaced the main board.

This time, they sent me a new TV. It's not top of the line, but it's better than the one I had, except that it only has 2 HDMI inputs.

And the broken one still technically works, so I may see if I can fit it in my home office (probably not).
