finished product is infused coconut oil that has been put into 000 gelatin capsules.
Process:
1 - Decarb 2 ounces of trim (Lopez and Orr sells ounces of 20% THC trim for $53) (i also added ~7grams of random flower i had as well
2 - melt 4 cups of coconut oil in a crock pot
3 - Tie up the de-carb'd flower in a bundle of cheesecloth (i use one bundle per ounce and dress it so it lays flat in the oil)
4 - Add 1/4 cup water, 1 tablespoon lecithin, and wrapped up flower to the oil in the crock pot
5 - Monitor temp and keep between 210-230 for 4 hours
6 - remove oil from crock pot and place into a bowl to cool off, put the bowl in the fridge (take a shot of the oil if you like it is ready now)
6a - throw the bundles back in the crock pot with a cup of water and another tablespoon of lecithin and cook for another 2 hours then go back to step 6. The secondary yield will produce less oil and more water but it will separate overnight and the oil is still very potent
7 - remove condensed oil from the bowl and remove any water that collects in the bottom
8 - your oil is done store and consume how you like but i prefer buying 000 gel capsules, melt the oil and fill the caps, refrigerate and enjoy
My estimate is ~20mg of THC per pill but that is very crude estimate. I do know 5 pills gets me pretty toasty, 10 pills and i start not tracking reality, and 15 pills just puts me to sleep (the most restful sleep ever tho).
This is way cheaper then buying edibles here as they are usually $30 for 100mg of THC. Even at a 50% extraction i should be yielding ~5,000mg's of THC from ~$150 of cost.
Side note - I usually cook with at least half indica, i made one batch with all sativa and it was more psychedelic and didn't put me to bed
