That's the biggest problem with the SJW community they see everything as racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. When you see the world through that lens everyone except the people in your cult are secretly out to oppress you. It's just not true.

My biggest complaint with TFA is that it's just ANH redone slightly. If there were a male lead in place of Rey I would still have the same issue. It's not me secretly being a sexist pig who hates women.

The new movie's plot looks to be:

Independent headstrong young girl who kicks ass saves the galaxy by helping to blow up the Death Star.

I just saw that movie. I don't need to see it again.
this

I actually like movies with female leads cuz it means I get to stare at a hot chick for 120 minutes. I'm sure that makes me some horrible pig, but I don't think that qualifies me as a sexist

I think it's ridiculous to assume that the protagonist has to be either a man or a woman. Why can't it be a space gorilla? Or maybe a robot with tits? Think outside the box

The movies aren't about who or what blows up the Death Star at the end of the movie. It's about how we all have to learn how to blow up the Death Star in ourselves.

Why would anybody care if the lead is male or female? I'm totally lost.

There are **** male leads and **** female leads. There are also good male leads and good female leads.

Knowing that the lead in the new series is female should tell you absolutely nothing.

Ugh this thread now has me borderline agreeing with Baltimore Jones, I feel like I need a shower now.

Lol this is so disingenuous i gagged on my breakfast a little.

you don't wanna see it again? you don't care for the choice of lead or the plot (that you don't even know yet)? Then GTFO and don't see it.

It must be exhausting being baltimore jones. Can you imagine how much of his waking life is consumed by manufacturing tragedy?

Pretty sure its those that throw out the term SJW like confetti that are in a cult.

If there had been a male lead in TFA no way would you have been saying omfg not another film with a strong male lead who is better than all the girls, or whatever the analogue of your weird "better than all the boys" statement is.

There are no SJWs itt, just people who DNGAF what genitals the lead posses in the film under discussion, we are not fist pumping because its a girl, we dont want it to be a girl, but also in the same breath we dont not want it be a girl, its just a massive non issue.

What is an issue is that people DGAF, about 75% of internet traffic after the TFA was whining about Rey and her gender, its just pathetic, but also quite funny.

a Chewbacca movie where Chewbacca growls through 40 minutes of actual dialogue would be a great troll movie

The ignore button is great.

Yeah pretty much exactly this.

Except there is one actual SJW.

Disney pushing females in the Star Wars universe isn't solely out of SJW hysteria, Disney after all is all about the bottom line.

The vast, vast majority of dollars spent on the Star Wars universe (movie tickets, dvds, collectibles, toys, video games, etc.) is spent by dudes.

Disney assumes the fanboys will continue to fanboy hard no matter what so they're trying to grow the Star Wars customer base and chicks are the biggest untapped market.

Was Snoke in the trailer for Rogue One? Palpatine too?

con:

- that doesn't look like a tank to me, more like a column of light
- these are supposed to be 'side stories' so I don't think they would bother to connect the dots like that
- hard to figure how he would exist here but not in the original trilogy

pro:

it looks like a Sith scene and there are only a very limited amount of people it could be. it could just be Darth Vader (in robe?) kneeling in front of Palpatine. but if not then...Snoke is possible

Pretty sure I read Vader was going to have a small and not really significant part in Rogue One, so that's where my money is.

Given the story was written way before all these Snoke fan theories emerged in TFA, I doubt the writers of Rogue One even considered him. We know the writers have done re-writes of Ep.8 based partly on fan reaction, so I doubt they will connect this story to the main trilogy in any way as it just complicates things further.
