kathleen kennedy was made head of lucasfilm when disney bought it...she's made it a priority to integrate women into all facets of the star wars films. has said one of the spin offs will have a female director.
i think 95%+ of people don't give a **** about who is in it, or who directed it, or who wrote it. if the writing, story, acting, and directing are good, the movie will be good. male or female, brown, black, or white lead is completely inconsequential.
btw, the SJWs will never be happy no matter what, so I don't really see any point in coddling them by specifically choosing to cast X, Y, or Z to address some perceived slight. main character in force awakens is obv a woman, second main character is a black man, and two people at comic con used their question in front of the world to ask JJ Abrams why there weren't more asians in the movie. lol. there is even whining about no transexual characters. no matter what you do, you can guarantee there will be outrage from some corner.
