The scene with Rey and the TIE Fighter was laugh-out-loud stupid.

So either:
1) Kylo and Rei are siblings (lame)
2) Rei gets killed off and Kylo rises to power
3) there's another unknown Skywalker descendant out there (really lame)
4) the order of Jedi actually ceases to exist, and the new order of light saber wielding, force manipulating warriors are called "Skywalkers"

I was thinking something along the same line.

And that Rey is some kind of creation of Palpatine’s (like Anakin is/was...thus her parents being “no one”). I wonder if they’re just going to say Snoke was a deformed clone of Palpy too.

This went through my head too. I have mixed feelings about it, because while there's a chance to undo some of the ****tiness of how his character was written in TLJ, his death scene was actually pretty well done and one of the standout moments in a lousy movie, and now it will be meaningless.

Also that will just reek of "oh crap Carrie Fisher died we gotta resurrect the other main character because we're desperate".

Otoh, who cares? His character was shamefully treated in TLJ, and Luke having a significant part in this film (i.e., not being dead) is probably the breaker for me in terms of paying to see it.

Also interesting was lots of Poe/Finn, with no sign of Kelly Marie Tran. Okay, she was shamefully treated by the internet, but her character was awful and she had no chemistry with Boyega.

Hopefully, that means more bromance.

Thrawn Trilogy is def very good (and my guess for an inspiration for the Ep 9 plot), I haven't read whatever the new thing is but I loved the **** out of those books when I was a kid.
2 is the worse movie, but I still prefer it. The world (galaxy?) building that went into the prequels was far superior. Even if the movie itself was awful at least it took place in a setting that I enjoyed. Episode 7 and 8 have absolutely no memorable world building, characters, history, settings or special effects. The clone wars was cool, even if the movies set during that time were not.

I've read great things about Thrawn, it's on my long list of things to eventually read.

Rey is gonna end up being a clone of Darth Vader lol their next trilogy should just uncanonize these and adapt the Thrawn books as a new Episode 7-9

2 worse than 1 seems like a scorching hot take, 1 is the worst movie ever made and even if it is not, that statement can still be made without hyperbole.

I'd probably rather watch 2 than 8, 2 is funnier (which is ironic considering how many jokes 8 tried to cram in). 1 is miserable to sit through. Hard to say which is worst. I think I hate 8 the most because its awfulness has greater contagion to other movies (retroactively ruining 7, for instance) and has the most malicious intent (by which I mean a lot of the things wrong with it are things it deliberately set out to do), but objectively 1 and 2 have to be considered worse films.

I know it's been mentioned already but I'm pretty amused at how poorly all those "TLJ BROKE NEW GROUND!!!!" takes have aged.

Please to be enjoying "The Rise of Skywalker" featuring zombie Emperor Palpatine.

I think a lot of people really enjoyed episode 7 and were superhyped for episode 8, while with episode 2 people were ready to be disappointed since episode 1 was meh as well.

I do like 2 better than 8, 2 had Yoda being a badass and while the story was bad, I generally understood characters their motivations. In 8 the story sucked, I did not understand characters motivations, there was even more cringe than in E2, and I did not understand what the **** they did with Snoke.

Also I'm interested in 2+2's view on Disney allegedly putting Star Wars in the fridge after E9. ? I think this is a combination of:
*Trying to create hype for E9 after the brand damage after E8.
*Disney probably focusing on new Star Wars IP which will be directly launched on their streaming platform in the coming years.

I do think we'll see another Star Wars cinema release within 5 years after E9 is released, but most people seem to think it will be way longer. Thoughts?

Yeah, even if the theories of them trying to pull a "Classic Coke" and going back to what the (formerly known as toxic) fanbase wants, I have very little sympathy for them.

"You fans were right all along! We shouldn't have let the past die; kill it if we had to. Here, have your 'Classic Star Wars' back! Please love us now!"

It really doesn't take a genius IQ to know beforehand that you shouldn't pull what they were trying to pull with a franchise beloved by millions of people worldwide. All it takes to realize that is pulling your heads out of your asses, and for one second looking critically on what you're setting out to do.

Disney paid billions for the franchise. They are not going to let that investment just lie dormant for a long time. I expect they will go the James Bond route and release a new movie every 2-5 years.

I wish that I could just wish away those films. They're like sand. Hard and coarse and they get everywhere.
