I had made my peace with Star Wars long ago already. After watching TPM and utterly hating it, I decided for myself that, for me, the Star Wars universe comprises the original trilogy and nothing more. I have not watched epII nor epIII a single time and I don't plan to. I only know some of what happens in them through the awesome reviews of Red Letter Media.

I gave TFA a shot, and I did appreciate the fact that they tried bringing at least some of the spirit of the original three back, but ultimately it was pretty forgettable.
Based on this post, I would recommend you add TLJ to the "never watch" list. Have you seen Rogue One? The first two acts are ehhhhhhhhh but the third act is legit good.

All the Money in the World 2017 received a lot of press lately for completely removing Kevin Spacey and reshooting parts of the film a month before release. One month.

Carrie Fisher dies a year before TLJ, does very little for 80% of film and they have an excellent opportunity to kill her off. Yet they just leave it alone, seems really really bizarre.

Really interesting to see how this will be addressed in 9.

That's why Spacey was removed.

Yeah, based on the spoilers I've read so far, I'm in no rush to see it. Even Mark Hamil seems to hate it from what I see online. Luke dies, right? And in a ****ty way, too.

I've never really bothered watching R1, but I've also avoided spoilers so far. It's about the guy/guys stealing the plans that Leia will eventually store in R2D2 at the beginning of ANH, right?

I might give that one a watch.

Yeah get off your ass and find R1 online somewhere, you may not love it but as an OT fan you have to at least try it. Was very very solid IMO.

I heard they have cast Christopher Plummer to play Princess Leia in the next film.

Come to think of it, how was she still a princess anyway? Didn’t her parents die at the beginning of the first film?

She's still a princess unless she's the heir

Don't they all call her "General Organa" in TFA?

So there is another brother out there somewhere? That could be the basis of three more movies imo.

All the Money in the World reshot the same scenes and didn't change the story. To kill off Princess Leia in The Last Jedi, you'd have to completely rework the film.

He was uneasy with the direction of his character, possibly because it deviated strongly from where he thought the character should go before the new movies, but he has since said he was wrong and that Luke's fate is necessary for the overall story.

From a story perspective of course it could've been done when she got blasted into space, but it would've been pretty cold to kill her off halfway through and cut out most of her final performance ever, including her first on-screen reunion with Luke/Mark Hamill in 34 years. And once she survived to that point, I don't know what they could've done afterwards that would be any more satisfying than what they're going to have to do at the beginning of episode 9.

Not necessarily. Like if prince william only had one daughter, she would be a princess. But if he and what's her name dies, his daughter is still a princess, even though she's an only child.

Basically she can be an only child, be a princess, and still not be the heir.

Just blows my mind that you can be in the royal family, have every other member of your society die, and still not get to be monarch. I assume this is some patriarchy bull****.

I believe Leia rounding up surviving displaced Alderaanians was covered in a comic bearing her name.

Watched ROTJ again recently and was actually quite shocked that they added Vader saying “No...NOOOOOO!” before grabbing Palpatine. Awful.

Ugh, I'd forgotten about that. It was so good with his just silently watching and contemplating, then stepping in suddenly. Lucas is 100% tone deaf with that stuff.

Jimmy Smits said he'd take the girl cuz he and his wife had always wanted a little girl. Kind of implies that they'd had multiple boys.

In retrospect that was a pretty big mistake as it ultimately gets the whole planet blown up.

Finally watched TLJ today.

Found it fairly watchable. I was confused as to what the whole hubbub was about though.

Could anyone explain what about the movie was controversial or not totally predictable?

Or is it just that Star Wars fans love complaining?
