lol at comparing this plot committed nonsense to fear of heights. the idea of being plot committed is stupid. you can stop watching something any damn time you want, regardless of the previous amount of time you wasted on it.

I am plot committed to Star Wars films for the time being; they're just barely entertaining enough. To get uncommitted what usually happens is the thing has to slip through the cracks accidentally. So for example if I'm busy and/or too lazy to go see SW8 in the theater, and then the 2018 film rolls around and I still haven't seen SW8 on Blu-Ray, it's quite possible it would snowball from there and that would be it (until such time as they made an actual good film). I rarely make a conscious decision though like "that's it, I'm done with Star Wars!"

I've also been known to go back years later and pick up where I left off. Still plan to do that with Babylon 5, which I watched S1 of in like 2005. Still playing a full season of NBA Live 2000 with the dynasty I started in Live 95 22 years ago.

Now you can watch B5, which was pretty good imo, and play "spot who's dead now" which is pretty much everyone.

I wouldn't call it "plot committed" btw in this case, I dgaf about the SW "plot" lol. More franchise or series committed. Same for me with GTA. Hated GTA5 a lot but I'll still play 6 and/or single-player DLC.

Right, the big new plot questions (who is snoke/Rey/kylo what happened / why is Luke all alone) I doubt are THAT important to anyone.

I'm plot committed till Luke dies. After that, the stories will have to actually be good.

Thought trailer was very meh but its just a marketing tool, and they will not risk going outside the box at all. Rian Johnson is the only reason I still have faith this might exceed my expectations.

Not excited about JJ finishing things in Episode 9, expect more vanilla storytelling ala TFA. Curious to see if Han Solo movie will be the first official bomb for the franchise.

I wouldn't mind if Solo were decent, I liked the actor in Hail Caesar.

You have to think they're working on a top secret 5-series Defenders-esque [Netflix Marvel] thing right? This could actually pique my interest, some "side" stories in the universe.

Maybe that's their big mover for the Disney streaming service. Hell of a killer app.

Was surprised to see this...and congrats to Kevin, who was in the class after me in HS (cool story bro) and if you haven't seen TROOPS, watch it in glorious SD from 20 years ago!

How does someone float this take after seeing Episode 7? A lot of people enjoyed that for what it was, but "unoriginal" was a very generous (and fair) criticism. Some people are naturally concerned about future episodes taking the same approach.

You can try to frame it as "similarities" or "reusing some themes" if you want to badly downplay what we're talking about, but we've seen movies. The problem isn't people being critical of a lack of originality or wanting more than a reworked version of a previous film.

I think Episode 8 is going to be very original and not just a rehash of Empire. For instance in Empire we had the massive snow monster (Wampa) and in the Episode 8 trailer they showed a smaller snow monster. So, much different.

I have a lot of faith in Rian Johnson in making 8 more than a rehash of Empire. Hopefully the studio gave him a lot of space to work.

Lucasfilm is excited to announce that Rian Johnson will create a brand-new Star Wars trilogy

"... In shepherding this new trilogy, which is separate from the episodic Skywalker saga, Johnson will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored ..."

So they are now just making up their own sci-fi totally unrelated to SW?

Is that even Star Wars?

What makes you think its totally unrelated? Just because its based on new characters doesn't mean it wont tie in to the known Star Wars universe.

Apparently a new TV series will be launched as well. Maybe already mentioned itt but could be pretty cool

During a Disney earnings call today, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced plans for a live-action Star Wars TV series and a new trilogy, likely coming after 2020.

The series will apparently be part of the previously announced Disney streaming service. In August, Disney unveiled those plans after it acquired a video-streaming company called BAM Tech. Currently, Disney has an exclusive deal with Netflix for streaming its films and TV series; that deal began in 2012 and expanded last year.

ITS HAPPENING

First impressions are very positive but that doesn't mean anything.

I'm going to watch it with some frends on Wed at 7pm. I am off work on Wednesday so I am doubting to also buy a ticket for the morning showing .
