I didn't want to ask, but I am still not 100% so I will: Did they almost fall for someone posing as the boss via email, telling them to go buy him some gift cards?

If any of you uses Gemini, you can have Google compose replies to those spam emails.

Kinda seems as if the mail admin should know about these, and block those messages.

The 49 makes it official though.

I got one of these emails a few years ago and also just a random Gmail address (I'm looking at it right now). Thought it was going to look a little more official but clearly a fake email.

The diction of the email is also strange "surprise for a few of the old Staff"

And they capitalized two words in the middle of sentences that would never be capitalized.

I'm not including the capitalization of staff either as while it is wrong in this context, I could see someone making that error.

Scams/phishing are purposely constructed in this way. When a mark responds in earnest, scammers can be fully confident that they’re a moron.

Someone who falls for such a poor deception will be more likely to fork everything over.

Office 365 didn't block it I guess. Most of the users click "Report phishing" and move on with their lives.

Quote:
Dear Mr. Adeyemo,

I am in receipt of your email regarding the payment of my inheritance funds. However, I am a bit confused by the information you have provided.

First, I am not aware of any inheritance funds that I am entitled to. I have never received any notification of such an inheritance, and I am not aware of any family members who have passed away recently.

Second, I am not sure what you mean by "con-ligation of UNITED NATION ORGANIZATION." I am not familiar with this term, and I am not sure how it relates to my inheritance funds.

Third, I am not sure why you are asking me to reconfirm my personal information. I have never provided this information to you before, and I am not sure why you need it now.

I would appreciate it if you could provide me with more information about this matter. I am happy to answer any questions you may have, but I need to understand more about the situation before I can proceed.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

madlex doing good work to keep the spammers busy. I remember when receiving calls "from Microsoft" about my PC needing help, occasionally baiting them when I was in the mood.

"Really? Which PC? I have a few, and I really want to get your help making sure the right one you've noticed is infected, gets addressed."

Read a story one time (probably apocryphal, but fun) about a guy who had spammers on the line. While talking, he spun up a virtual machine and gave them access. When they got to time for the payoff, the spammer told him his computer would be locked if he didn't provide whatever ransom they wanted.

He went ahead and just deleted the virtual, after laughing at them and calling them idiots.

Why does a trailer for the National Anti-Sodomy Crusade have curtains on the windows?
What are they trying to hide?

took the trailer pic today on my way home from sunday market
been there for weeks
pasted upper left in the following intersection perspective as a frame of reference which also includes my closest local taco bell bottom right
Spoiler:

right is also the only way to correctly exit from the tb drive thru
so a quick bank left and park behind wells fargo lot between kfc and the injury law center

did exactly that last week at lunch with a bag of cantina soft taco
stop to eat with car nose pointed directly toward the same rv across the street, do the math, and feel mad breaking bad habits

unwrapping generally reveals orange corkscrews somehow inspired to mix with every part of your car
so i slowly open the door after eating two and wipe off outside a lot of lap cheese residue

at exactly the same time our very special tin can inhabitant decides is the best to swap out a battery
and he looks at me like i took a large crap on his imaginary porch
