You're right.

I'm sorry. You're actually a pretty good mod and I've always loved your avatar + location combo.

I yanked on a cart for a minute, someone finally gave me a quarter.

Always return for what should be obvious reasons. Sad that this is even a discussion.

Question for all the Cart Heroes who can't even believe this a question:

You never recline your airplane seat, right? 100% full up 100% of the time, correct?

Always return 100% as does everyone else in Minnesota. I can't even imagine what kind of jerk would just leave the cart in the middle of a parking lot. Sounds like something they'd do in Wisconsin.

I full recline ldo. Not even sure how that's a similar question. A better question might be "Do you use the public bathroom or poop in the middle of the hallway?"

When you eat at a fast food place do you gather up your wrappers and tray and take it to the trash or just leave everything sitting on the table?

Return the cart. Don’t be a lazy azz. At the very least, don’t block a parking space.

Having moved a lot of trolleys in my life as part of working in a supermarket first when we had to do it when the trolley boys skipped work and later for a big liquor barn where it formed part of everyone's job there, this issue pisses me off more than it would for others.

So if a trolley is in a spot that I'm about to park in and can still safely park there, I will still take the time to then take that trolley back to a trolley bay. I will also where I can on the way back to a trolley bay with a trolley take other trolleys back that are reasonably in the vicinity of the trolley I'm taking back (like within 10 metres).

I just don't get the laziness out there and it is simply a matter of courtesy to return the trolley to a place where it has been designated by the shopping centre to go (and it is no excuse if you think the trolley bays are too far as if they are (which I really doubt - as these are all approved in the shopping centre's parking area from my experience) then return it to the front of the shop).
You're in the wrong thread. We're talking about carts, not whatever the **** a trolley is.

Amusingly enough, during my undergrad years I ended up in some Human Factors course that required some group research project type thing, and my group performed a study on some factors that could predict the likelihood of a supermarket patron returning their cart to what we called the "Cart Corrals".

Don't remember everything, but the gist was that there was a negative correlation between the estimated value of the car the patron drove (taking a rough shot at their wealth) and the likelihood that they'd return the cart. So, rich people be not returning.

Male/female and old/young was roughly split as I recall, but people in nice cars tended to leave that **** wherever.

All part of my master plan over the last couple of years to be as nice a person as possible.

That's interesting. My wife went with my mom shopping the otherday and my mom tried to pressure my wife not to take the cart back but my wife just had to. My parents are pretty rich but her car is only a Ford fusion

If I see a cart in the middle of the parking lot, I know a trashy person has been there. Don't be a trash.

People are lazy. If one row over is too far to walk you're probably morbidly obese and could use the exercise.

Also, my new VW's front fender was recently scratched to hell by a runaway cart. A return was about 20 feet away. It's completely inconsiderate to not give a **** if your cart damages some random stranger's car because you're too lazy to take a 30 second stroll to the return.

The true test of a man's character is what he does with his shopping cart when he thinks no one is watching.

I told you this was a POLARIZING topic!

I semi-recently watched the wind grab hold of a big, plastic Whole Foods cart and send it careening into a car door at around 10 mph. It was a Volvo x7 though, so no harm no foul.

Likewise people should knock over displays in the store since someone will be paid to pick up your mess.

Run and jump on it to ride it like your 12 again! I still do this every now and then and I'm 36.

I think I'm gonna have to stop tho cuz I saw some dude do it on the interwes and faceplant when there was no counter balance in the cart. Can you say time for some new teeth!? :cringe:

Under my administration, the punishment for failure to return will be a cart ramming you in the back of the heel.

A person at your advanced age cannot be too careful. Time to only use your walking feet and no horse play.
