I went from 5 0%, 1 31%, 1 96% to 6 0%, 1 96%. That 96% will become 0% as soon as it's reported as I paid it off a few weeks ago also.

Where are you getting the credit score from?

Also, I wouldn't worry about it, as paying off CC debt is super +EV. Your score will pop back up shortly and will only get better in the long run.

To see a decrease on that suggests a sKore and not a sCore. The high util on the one card is absolutely killing you though....you will see some points come back when it is under 50% and another bump under 30%.

Once you get them all basically at 0%, then focus on the $2 trick presuming no negative items exist on the reports...

Legit first world problem:
MR transfer to Hilton is currently increased (targeted) for me to 1:2.6. Some people have been offered 1:3. I would transfer all of my MR at 1:3, but trying to decide whether I should at 1:2.6. Other option would be to get the Schwab Amex in the future and transfer to brokerage.

I don't have any redemptions in mind in the next few months, as I already have my next vacation booked with points. I'm Diamond and have an Aspire that I MS on. If I had more vacation time it would financially be a good transfer as I could use the 5th night free on bookings to increase the value tremendously.

We have a CP and typically fly SW, have plenty of UR, AA, IHG and Marriott points, so the decision is cash versus Hilton points..... Hmmmmmmm

I got the dreaded "7-9 day" message after applying for a Chase business credit card, which almost always indicates a denial. I gave the reconsideration line a call, and was told that I needed to submit a "Certificate of Assumed Name" form, since I put my business name on the application as "My Name, Esq.". Unfortunately, this certificate would cost $120 in filing fees to obtain, and the agent couldn't give me any assurance that I'd be approved for a card even after I submit it. It's not necessary otherwise to operate a sole proprietorship in my state under your regular name, which I do. According to the agent, a copy of my law license would be insufficient.

I guess my options are to call the reconsideration line another day, pay to get the certificate (50k point CC bonus), or reapply without the "Esq.". Has anyone had any experience with getting a business card with a professional abbreviation after your name? I'm banging my head against the wall since I actually have a legit business, and was hoping to clear the bonus with purchases to furnish my office.

i have no legitimate business and i've gotten plenty of business credit cards include 2 from chase using just my name with no fancy boy title after.

I have a CSP and it will now be (assuming no more rules are changed) at least 2.5 more years until I can get a bonus on a CSR. I also have an Ink (Business card) with an annual fee hitting next month. I've already transferred the UR from Ink -> CSP. Any reason not to cancel the Ink? Should I consider PC'ing CSP -> CSR or just hold out?

Could also do it the other way and cancel CSP, keep Ink. Higher earnings on it, but one of my other main uses is as rental car primary insurance* and I'm mildly concerned about some of the language on Ink regarding rentals being "for business purposes".

* city life, don't have my own car or insurance, but when I rent on a CSP or other cards they would cover the car and other expenses if wrecked - I pay extra to the rental company for extra liability insurance though I don't think you legally have to

Baltimore, I downgraded my Ink Business Preferred to an Ink Business Cash after the year. I use it for internet, cable and phone bills, office stores and gas. No fees.

I want to add a card for end of the year spending. Right now I have the Chase Sapphire Reserved, Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, and Ink Business Cash. I downgraded to the Cash from the Ink Preferred and the Freedom from the CSP. I have a little over 300k UR points, and I'm currently single. I want to get a card that's either going to give me more UR points or start me up with a transfer partner for UR that I could eventually use for a trip (I had been planning to take a Eurotrip with the girlfriend last month, but instead she broke up with me and used the UR points I had set her up with to go to Greece for a friend's wedding). What should I consider?

You're running out of options for UR signup bonuses. What's your 5/24 status? Are you ok cancelling cards, as Chase will only allow one card in each family now. Also, you can't get a bonus on a CSP or CSR if you've received that bonus on EITHER card in the last 48 months. So depending on when you got your Chase cards, you're probably ineligible for any UR earning cards currently.

I don't really keep up with UR rules, as I won't be even close to eligible for a while, and I'm thinking maybe you should do the same and branch out. Look at where you would be transferring your URs to and aim for those CCs. For example, if you would be transferring to AA, get some Citi and Barclays cards. If Delta, go AMEX. If you really want flexibility with transfer partners, look at Amex MRs or Citi TY points. If you want general travel credits, look at the Arrival+ from Barclays. Plenty of options that are non-UR related. If you love Chase, look at IHG or Marriott Business that don't fall under 5/24.

Let us know if you have other questions!

The dealership most likely checked with multiple lending institutions to get you that loan. Two inquiries for a car loan is actually on the low side, as they will usually check with 4 or 5. I wouldn't worry about it as inquiries don't matter much, but I would check your score every now and then to make sure nothing weird is happening.

Thanks for your response. This is what I was thinking, that it would be best to build up points with the right UR transfer partner. I definitely have at least one Chase spot left, and I work as an independent contractor so I can legitimately get business cards though I don't have much in the way of business expenses to charge on them. I don't travel much right now, just once or twice a year for pleasure, and I don't have any favorites for airlines or hotels. So I'm going in completely open, really looking for the best value in terms of bonus, transfer of UR and rewards program to use the points. I was thinking it might be better to focus on a hotel chain than airline so as not to limit myself to one set of flight schedules. Over the final three months of a year, I can probably generate $5k in normal spending, even though I'm trying to cut down on spending since I'm paying more in rent since the girlfriend moved out.

Be happy there were only two. Yes, it was only one loan, but it is NOT uncommon for the app to be shot-gunned around. The only way around the shot-gun approach by the dealer is if you specifically add a caveat that it is ONLY to go to the captive. Otherwise, line it up on your own with your individual lender...

Anyone considered the option of applying for a second Chase Ink Business Preferred using an EIN to get the big bonus all over again?

Im wondering what to do next?

Short overview of myself:

I have 4 credit cards that Ive had between 3-11 years, total credit limits about 15k. All with poor interest rates. Being a busto degen I always carried a high balance, but no longer being a busto degen Ive been aggressively paying off my debt this year.

My Citi card app last updated my FICO score to be at 758, while my Wells Fargo app says it is 745. What im wondering is, should I apply for a new card now, or wait until I pay off the remaining $2,500 or so of debt?

Current rewards:

2 of my cards are 1.5% Quicksilver, one is 1%, and other is 1% when purchased and 1% when paid.

Focus on continuing to pay that debt down until it is gone, IMO. Your credit utilization of 2500/15000 ~ 16.7%, while not bad, is not great either and could prevent you from getting approved from some of the better cards

Both the wife and I signed up for both the chase southwest cards during the 60k bonus period and timed the spend to get the bonus in 2018. We got the companion passes for our kids through 2019. Great success. The cards are renewing now and we do not need or use them, or really need the thank you points for re-upping. We both have 800ish scores. What's the play here? Is it a mistake to cancel all four cards?

ETA not aware of any big purchases on the horizon but maybe (unlikely) a car this year and also more likely will be looking into one or more hotel reward cards as I will be traveling a lot more frequently in 2019.

Agree with above that you should finish paying off the debt fully first. But also since it seems like you have had a habit of overspending make sure you don't overextend yourself chasing a sign up bonus. The sign up bonus is great and all but if you are going to spend money you wouldn't have otherwise just to hit it than it destroys the whole point. glgl

Thanks for the advice. Seems clear to finish what I started before applying for something new.

No, Ive never had a spending problem, most of my credit debt was living expenses because I lost most of my cash gambling.

Wouldn't say it's a mistake to cancel them necessarily but they will usually give a retention offer that covers the annual fee on the southwest cards so can't hurt to ask. I was able to get a retention offers on both the ones I had gotten for the same reason (companion pass) which covered the annual fee and so the anniversary points were a free 9k sw pts (18k in your case here). Cancelling is fine if you decide that's not worth the hassle but it only takes a couple min per card to call in.

When you start looking at hotel cards try and take a look at which properties you usually stay at or are in the areas you wanna go. But can't go wrong with Chase Marriott/Amex SPG cards (can only do one or the other as the programs merged now). Amex hilton bonuses are highest they've been right now, not quite as valuable as marriott pts but still worth it imo. Especially the business one since it doesn't count towards 5/24.
