Looks like Chase/SW killed the loophole for companion pass earlier this month. You are only allowed to get one of the SW bonuses on the personal cards. Not both. Blows as I was looking to knock this out in January. Now the only way to do it is to stack a personal card and business card.

Looks like same thing with Chase Marriott and SPG Amex. You can only get one of them.

Just get the business card and the personal card can still claim the SW companion pass using CC. I'm planning on hitting both of them in Jan to extend my companion pass another 2 years.

You have two ways to look at it. Do you want to possibly open multiple bank accounts (similar to churning credit cards), or do you just want the best interest rate to leave the cash in and forget about it? Although I don't use Ally, they typically have the highest interest rate and constantly raise the rate as the market dictates. No fees of any kind to worry about. They're currently at 1.8% for savings. They also have CDs up to 3% for a 5-year term. You could also look at a credit union that has up to 5% interest, but will have to meet minimum requirements each month like having a direct deposit and using their debit card 15 times.

As usual, the DOC has the best info: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/high-...avings-to-get/

If you really want to get creative, Mango Prepaid is currently offering 6%, but the hoops you need to jump through are pretty big.

My wife opened a biz+personal a few months ago and she doesn't have a "traditional" business of any kind. Very easy to get approved by Chase for a biz card if your credit profile is clean.

I have the old SPG AmEx and the old Chase Marriott - what card should I roll them into now that the rewards programs have merged?

A person can buy vacant land for nothing down (just make the monthly payments) in various states without a credit check.

Any browser will search it for you ("Land Zero Down 29 Palms") ... just substitute your favorite town or state.

Or just go to Craigslist or Zillow.

Don't overpay for the land; don't agree to any "document fees"; and be sure you can continue the monthly payments.

my wife has a separate Chase login because i was maxed out on cards. hers is coming up on renewal and we want to cancel her card. Can her UR points be transferred to my account? or can her points stay in her account even without an active card? tia

Get a Chase Freedom, park the points there.

You could possibly downgrade to a Freedom or Freedom Unlimited and keep the points there, but you can also transfer to anyone in your household.

About half way down this blog post it gives you instructions on how to do it:

This is the best 1 card solution for long term simplicity.

If you have 100k+ at BoA or Merril Lynch the travel or cash rewards cards could be better at 2.63%
I am interested in getting the citi double cash card for the 2% cash. I currently have a basic capital 1 card I have had for over a year. At the time I got denied for others. My limit is super low 300 a month. I got an email saying i could raise but don't see the point if i get no rewards for using it.
I mostly use my debit card now. How would I know my chances of approval and is the double best for everyday purchases?

no signup bonus, AFAIK, I would look at another option, something with at least a signup bonus.

40% back on your first $500 spend and some other perks. BoA is very lenient with approvals in my experience

I plan on buying my first home when my apartment lease ends at the end of January. How far of a history do lenders request bank account activity, if any? Should I stop withdrawing/depositing frequently based on my poker activity? Might be suspicious to non-poker players. Credit score is 735ish or 785ish, depending on which agency you use, if this matters.

Thanks for the wealth of knowledge in this thread that I've been lurking in.

Find a lender now and they will guide you on what to do for the next 6 months to put yourself in the best position to purchase. Lenders can go back several years in some cases. Any large transactions will generally need an explanation.

If you know who you are going to try and utilize for the mortgage, you can make an inquiry of them to see what records they will be wanting, explaining that you know the applications will be a few months down the road but you want to begin getting documents in order.

As to score, expect that all of the bureaus will be pulled, often at least twice and sometimes a third time, as the process winds its way through to conclusion. There are some which will ALSO pull the Innovis report (the fourth major bureau that many people tend to ignore). I am unaware of any services out there that will calculate a FICO score for the consumer based on the data in the Innovis report and they are not included in most of the online services.

Why is there such a frequency of withdrawals? Deposits are not likely to be an issue, but I could see frequent withdrawals being something that spooks a potential lender since it sends a message that you really are not capable of depending on poker for steady income...

Anyone know a non sketchy marketplace to sell gift cards on? Amex points seem to be best utilized getting gift cards but the ones with the best rate I don't have a ton of need for so I'm thinking getting a home depot gc or something for the best rate and then selling it somewhere for a small loss would be the highest return on my amex points. Thx

One need not be a 'professional' to keep a few buy-in's at the house...it isn't like banks are paying much in interest so you won't be missing out by having a few thousand in an envelope in the bedside table. Easier as well for those last minute decisions to just go play...

You just click a button every quarter. Annoying that they make you do it, but pretty easy nonetheless. Auto enrollment would be nice

If you happen to get denied your history with cap1 is probably worthy of an approval for the $150 bonus, 1.5% cash back quicksilver, assuming your scores are halfway decent/

The Citi DC (and dozens of other cards) would be better long term, but if your scores/profile are lacking I'd settle for some low hanging fruit until you build up. It wont take long

I'm frustrated with some recent denials. BOA cash rewards, Citi DC (when they were offering the bonus) and just this week the new WF propel. My scores are all 750+, the file is thinish with two 10 year old closed accounts, 3 accts at 6 months, and 1 at 4 months. They all give me the too many INQ bs, I've got 11 this year, and only 3/6 months before WF pulled TU and EX to deny me. No baddies. My takeaway is that these old positive closed accounts are great for the score, but at least BOA, Citi, and WF don't seem to count them. Super annoying as I owe $7K on rooms in Jan/Feb and as of right now I'll get 2% back on my Discover card. I hate to keep apping and **** up next year as well, but I really want some free money for my spend. Any ideas?

That's strange. My credit is terrible, defaulted on a card 6 years ago. Haven't been able to get approved since. Applied for the WF propel on a whim 2 weeks ago and somehow got approved with a $1500 line of credit.

I do bank with them and have a steady and stable checking account though.

All three of those banks are known for randomly denying if you don't have a relationship with them, regardless of credit score. Do you have a checking account or CC with any of them?

Amex is very easy to get approval, especially if you have a history with them. With that type of spend coming up you should look into a 100k Platinum offer and see if it makes sense to you (value of $1k+).

What CCs do you currently have and how old are they? We might be able to help you out with some recs if we know a little more about your situation. 11 inquiries is a lot to only have 4 new accounts...
