right... then you cancel (sometimes clearing a retention bonus first), and your significant other applies...

How do you know it counted towards your 5/24 status? Did you get denied for the next card you applied for and cited that reason by recon?

I just got denied and figured that was the reason but i didnt know for show. My wife and I own a small LLC so I just then got the INK through her name

Speaking of business cards, I just got an offer in the mail for Capitol One business cc Spark. The offer is I get $1,000 cash after I spend $10k in 3 months. Annual fee waived first year. Seems really good since I am thinking of buying a new car. I could just use this cc and then transfer to an auto loan probably

This was just a link to apply for one. I guess I’ll go back a few pages and try to figure out what an AU is lol

My friends about to sign up for one of these so at least I.can save her some hassle

maybe? last time I was looking at a vehicle they only wanted to allow a charge up to $3k. I am not sure how easy buying a $10k+ car on a cc is. Also, that's only a 10% bonus, you could probably do a lot better.

It was the amex link where you can view the card benefits and see its the same as a regular platinum (in case you were looking at the ameriprise website where its abridged benefits).

AU = Authorized user, typically 3 AUs cost $175 on the Plat. Each AU gets their own allowance for centurion lounge entry (+2 guests), their own delta lounge access, their own status bumps (starwood, hilton, rental cars etc), access to FHR, plat concierge, and their own global entry / tsa pre credit. Plus access to Amex Offers! The only thing an AU doesn't get is uber or airline credits.

Basically, if you don't need a big MR signup bonus, there is no reason to get anything other than the ameriprise version. I have a strong suspicion it's not going to last much longer either.

Do you have to be an Ameriprise financial customer to get the offers?

Lol I added my wife as an authorized user like a year ago and never noticed a charge. I’m guessing I paid it.

Make sure you can pay off the CC completely with cash as it will most likely not be possible to transfer a CC balance to an auto loan.

We bought a new car in October and were able to put an $8k downpayment on a CSR. Not sure how high they would have allowed. We didn't mention this until we were with the finance guy at the very end. He wasn't happy, but he'd rather eat the CC swipe fee than lose the sale.

Can transferring available credit between Amex cards affect my credit score? For example, if I transfer credit from an older card to a newer card?

Nah. Utilization is indifferent to the ages of the tradelines.

have to ask even though I'm 99.9999% I am correct in thinking that I can safely cancel my Southwest CC from Chase and it will not affect my current points/SW status, correct?

If it is structured like most airline-related cards, the rewards move to the airline loyalty account at the end of a statement period. So yes, the miles/points/whatever SWA uses SHOULD be safe (I don't fly SWA, so cannot speak to their program- my CO miles remained intact when I ditched PresPlus following the UAL merger).

No effect except you won't get the anniversary bonus points

Yea I have to start worrying about canceling cards now, as my CSP annual fee is coming up any day now. I guess I'm just going to pay the $95 rather than deal with it this year (that's how they get you!). In general is it easy/desirable to move points to another card and then immediately cancel or try to PC? Have all these rumored crackdowns on PC (product change) transpired yet?

Not sure re: downgrades, I'd be scouring r/churning for data points. I was able to downgrade my CSP it a Freedom but that was like 2 years ago. I do remember the option wasn't available until after it was open a year and the fee had posted.

I have some fees coming up I kinda have to eat. My Chase Ink is my only card on my business report. I need to open an non-AF business card to anchor that report so I can do something with it next year. My Chase SW+ is only a year old and I get anniversary points to mostly offset it, so I'll keep it for a second year. It's generally best to keep cards for a second year (downgrades are fine) if it's not too outrageously expensive. If your reports start getting littered with cards you only keep open a year it can start to get tougher to get approvals in the future.

I think I'm gonna double dip my targeted Amex Biz Gold 75k MR offer and get a Blue while I'm at it. I'm right at 5/24 and I wouldn't mind letting my credit score edge up some more anyway, so I'm gonna subsist on Business card bonuses for the time being.

looking at Amex offers, $90 off $300 at AllenEdmonds.com

any chance a $300 gift card purchase triggers the $90 credit? That would be sick, maybe I should try ha. Anyone know where to get data points on stuff like this? Because if gift card purchases ever would/do work, seems like it would be easy money

my house is paid in full (sick brag) but look into Plastiq, it is a service that provides this type of thing and there are sometimes promos.

I guess that explains the abundance of $300 gift cards available on Raise right now, lulz. do u look to flip them(sell to Raise or site like it)? I have never sold to Raise or sites like it but man, maybe I should start getting more acquainted with the opportunity.

When I've done in the past it was $50 off $200, and I used for personal use via shoebank.com and their tent sales. But yes, thats why $300s are on raise.

I flip gcs a lot but not Allen Edmonds as they're not profitable or have low demand through the channels I use.

Plastiq currently charges 2.5% for this for credit cards, but you can use a debit and pay 1%. This is currently the cheapest option (at least big, well known companies) and it probably isn't profitable unless you're trying to hit a minimum spending or big spending threshold.

I agree. I looked into it a bit this morning and wouldn’t bother for anything above 1%.

I did exactly this. Also, make sure to make the purchase through a cashback site as well. I did mine through Befrugal.com (currently 7.3% off for AE; 9.3% if it's your first time). Also got an additional $10 off for being a first time user. It will admittedly take 1-2 months to actually receive the money.

It ended up being:

AE: ~$308 (I couldn't get rid of shipping even using shoprunner)
AMEX Credit: -$90
Cashback site: -$47.39
Total: $170.61

You could try to sell the gift card although supply is pretty high atm like you mentioned. I'm just going to hold on and buy a pair when they have their next sale.
