100k MR has a value well north of $1k, depending on how you use it. You can get the AF once in 2016 and once in 2017 before cancelling (if you want). Global entry credit isn't bad, but I wouldn't purchase it on its own, so I wouldn't consider that valuable. What really intrigues a lot of people are the lounges that you get access to. Not only are they extremely nice, but they provide food and drinks, which can add up to a lot of value if you travel a lot.
You can also transfer MR to a handful of different travel partners, such as British Airways and Hilton. I like the Hilton transfer, even though it is a bad value, but sometimes you just need a few points to get a certain redemption and it can be very useful.
