Looking at CSR.. the terms say:

"A statement credit will automatically be applied to your account when your card is used for purchases in the travel category, up to $300 in statement credits annually (“annually” means the year beginning with your account open date through the first December statement date of that same year, and each 12 billing cycles starting after your December statement date through the following December statement date)."

Does this mean if I sign up now I can get flights reimbursed up to 300 if I buy it this month.. and then in January I can do it again?

Correct, and it's instantly credited when the charge processes.

Gonna be moving soon, probably will be flying from Cincinnati or Columbus to Seattle. Looks like I can probably take just about any airline between these two cities - any idea which airline cards have the best signup bonuses right now (not chase)? Figured maybe some of you got some and/or applied for some recently.

Delta (Amex) has a 70k sign-up bonus + $100 statement credit after first Delta purchase. Pretty sure it's a widely available public offer, so I think you'd be able to see it if you go directly to Amex in an incognito window, or maybe someone here has a referral.

By reshuffling, I assume you mean reallocating?

About Amex, Per Docter Of Credit (from 2014)
Quote:
Restrictions In Reallocating Your Credit Limits

A credit card must have been opened for a minimum of 13 months before it’s possible to transfer the credit limit from that card.
A credit card should be at least 60 days old to transfer to that card.
Upgrading/downgrading cards has no effect on the clocks mentioned above.
Credit limits cannot be transferred from business to consumer cards. It is possible to transfer from consumer to business, business to business and consumer to consumer. It’s also not possible to transfer limits to or from charge cards as they have no preset spending limit.
You cannot reallocate your credit limits more than once every thirty days

How To Reallocate Your Credit Limit Online

Log in to your American Express account
Click the following link: https://online.americanexpress.com/m...rdt_other_card
Follow the prompts

F.A.Q’s

Does this result in a hard credit pull?

No, it’s only a soft pull to reallocate your credit limit with American Express. If your credit limit exceeds $25,000 before or after the reallocation on any one card then you might be hit with a hard pull. There are also reports of increased scrutiny/financial reviews on people with limits higher than $25,000.

I don’t see the option to transfer from a specific card, what gives?

How old is your card? If it’s not at least twelve months old it’s not possible to transfer from this card and that’s why the website won’t give you option.

How long does it take for it to process?

Almost instantly in most cases, although you should allow a minimum of 15-30 minutes before worrying

American is usually pretty good if you can get a 50k offer, which looks to be public. Looking at a random date in January, it costs around 12.5k per flight. If you're only flying there and not doing roundtrip, you could book 4 seats for the 50k signup bonus. Should be something similar with Delta and any other airlines you can get a high bonus from.

Something to keep in mind: if you have a short timeline, less than 3 or 4 months until your needed flight, you might not get the points in time to book the seats you want.

not just that but American charges 75ish dollars when you use miles to book a flight within 2 months or so.

Just curious, but will you see if a hard pull was performed by Chase for this? Basically just look at your creditkarma or creditsesame in the future to see. Chase is one of the few banks that has a grey area where they will increase credit limits with or without doing a hard pull when it seem you have hit their max credit limit.

Also, 5k of the 7.5k increase they gave me came from one of my other cards, without asking me. It just so happens that they took it from a card that I would have been glad to give up some of (CSP), but still I'm a bit perturbed that they didn't ask AND when I asked them specifically on the phone whether they had done that they said "no we don't do that without asking"

That's annoying. It would have sucked if you wanted/needed that credit on the CSP for something else.

Thanks for updating us. Always good to have more data points on whether credit increases, reallocating, etc. are hard pulls or not.

I just cancelled it before first fee hit. Was worth the bonus, bought some airline tickets and a hotel. Switched to CSR just recently.

The problem with airline credit is you have to choose one specific airline, so it may or may not ever be worth it.

50k is the standard "good" offer. Check creditcards / cardmatch for a 50k offer with only 1k in spending, not sure if it's still out there.

Also I'd see if anyone ITT has a referral for you to use for the 50k offer, always nice to help each other out in here.

The 50k offer is pretty solid. The annual fee is waived for the first year for almost all apps. Also, the $100 airline credit gets reset at the beginning of the calendar year. I got the card earlier this year and used the MPX (mileage plus app from United) to get $100 from Amazon. Assuming the MPX still codes correctly, I will be able to get another $100 on Amazon on Jan. 1st, 2017.

I got it on the 40k/25k MR offer. Solid card would recommend. Also, MR can get pretty valuable with transfer partners, way more than 1 cpp but yeah $500 is a good floor for the bonus.

Awesome, thanks for all of the input guys. I am not concerned about the required spend as I need to purchase a new laptop before year's end and holidays are coming up soon anyway, that's partially why i was considering grabbing this or another offer, going to be spending the money anyway, might as well try to grab some rewards/sign off offer out of it.

If i decide to pull the trigger on this card or another will post in this thread first to see if anyone has a referral code as JL mentioned.
Thanks Again.

Something to keep in mind is that you can get a credit card and multiple charge cards from Amex with only one pull. Since the PRG is a charge card, you could also apply for another Amex card on the same pull. Depends on how much organic or MS spend you have though.
Quote:
American Express does combine credit pulls, here are the rules:

They’ll allow a maximum of one credit card application per day, doesn’t seem to be a limit on charge cards.
All cards need to be approved in the same day, otherwise multiple pulls will be done (e.g sometimes when you call they’ll say that the application will be reviewed in a few days time. When it’s reviewed another hard pull will be automatically done. You should be able to cancel the second application when doing this if you want to avoid the hard pull).
Usually will be denied on auto approval, you’ll need to call reconsideration.
When calling reconsideration only ask for approval for one card at a time.
You’ll need a valid reason as to why you want each card
Representatives will often state the system allows only one per day, which is why you only want to deal with one card per call. It’s not hard coded into the system to allow only one approval per day, so just hang up and call again if you have this issue.
Can mix personal and business applications and it should only result in one pull

i know you guys have referenced owning multiple BoA cash rewards cards. seems the $200 after $500 offer is still looming.

I currently own one travel R, one Cash R, and one BetterBalance cards through BoA. wife owns TR and CR through BoA. I'd like to bang out a few $200 after $500 bonuses if possible. Our credit is in pretty good standing and should do nothing but go up for awhile as we have slowed down on apps and balances are being paid.

How does the process work when u apply for the same card for a second time? just fill out the app as normal?

Terms if u care to read: You will qualify for $200 bonus cash rewards if you use your new credit card account to make any combination of Purchase transactions totaling at least $500 (exclusive of any fees, returns and adjustments) that post to your account within 90 days of the account open date. Limit one (1) bonus cash rewards offer per new account. This one-time promotion is limited to new customers opening an account in response to this offer. Other advertised promotional bonus cash rewards offers can vary from this promotion and may not be substituted. Allow 8-12 weeks from qualifying for the bonus cash rewards to post to your rewards balance. The value of this reward may constitute taxable income to you. You may be issued an Internal Revenue Service Form 1099 (or other appropriate form) that reflects the value of such reward. This. You run the risk of BOA cancelling later applications as duplicate if they are the same team.

When I was applying and was on my 4th app of the day from them (1 BBR and 3 Cash) the credit limit they were giving me with each new app dropped a large amount. This was when I knew I hit my limit, so I didn't apply for more.

I have had a BOA cash card for years, but have put zero spend on it since I got it 4 or 5 years ago.

If you're thinking about getting a BOA card, you might want to look at the Merrill Lynch card. It currently has a signup bonus of $500 cash, that can potentially be used for $1000 in airline flights. Since Merrill is a BOA company, there's a good chance that Hard Pulls from this + an MLB card and/or BBR cards will be combined.

The only reason I might not apply is that it has some wording about being a Merrill member, so it could be very tough to be approved without a Merrill relationship. (That plus it's only been a few months since I hit them up for a few cards)

I've done the CSR and CSP (downgraded the CSP to a regular sapphire before the fee) and have the freedom and a 5% back on amazon card from synchrony. I've got student loans and stuff so hitting the min spend is never an issue with anything. Thoughts on what card to do next? Should I also be getting the Freedom unlimited to be getting 2.25% on all non 5% category purchases? Chase obv not coming out with a new card for awhile so being pretty close to 5/24 wouldn't be a big deal I don't think although it would suck if I missed out on an opportunity later just to get the freedom unlimited and it's small bonus. I travel a decent bit so cards with miles are fine, my only "worry" is that I already have 170k UR points which is gonna take awhile to use towards travel so idk that I want to keep stacking up tons of travel rewards. Those are always more valuable bonuses than cash ones though so idk what I'm supposed to do in that spot.

Also, if I'm understanding it correctly, when my gf is getting close to a year with her CSR I should have her transfer her UR points to my acct so we don't pay 2x the yearly fee for no reason?

Thanks
