It may be your available credit amount. I got approved for 28k on the first sw card and only 2k on the second in the same day.

I only said $40k because I paid a huge legal bill of close to that amount and it went through. Maybe the $1k is to deter me from making the spend bonus? Not sure how the accounting works on that / who pays...(I'll get it by just paying off the card several times a month, but some probably don't track as closely as I do).

Most stores don't give cash back on the purchase of gift cards, it's usually in the T&C.

It wouldn't be the best way to get discounted Macy's GCs anyway. The highest cb on cashback monitor for Macy's is 8%. Cardpool has Macy's GCs for a 9% discount, plus you can go through a portal to cardpool for 1-2% cb.

Anyone have history getting a CSR travel credit with hotels.com gift cards? Bought $50 Thursday and it's no longer a pending purchase, but no travel credit so far. Was hoping to buy another $250 before I downgrade.

looks like the egift card didnt work for hotels.com, and have not found another source online confirming that. Flyer talk says hotels.com works, just not sure if its actually booking a hotel on there or if maybe a physical GC would work?

**** it, probably just going to roll with a $300 Uber GC before I need to downgrade.

I have a Gold Delta Amex card that I have had for much longer than any other credit card and it accounts for most of my available credit.

I don't want the Delta card any more since I do not fly Delta anymore but I do not want to cancel it because it would reduce my available credit and hurt my credit score.

Do I have any good options?

If you call and say you're going to cancel they'll probably waive the annual fee. In the interim, get other credit.

I called Amex and the representative said they already sent an offer to me to upgrade my Delta Gold card to the Blue Cash Everyday card and that my available credit and account number would remain the same. That seems a little weird to me since it is a card without an annual fee and it seems like they would not want me to do that.

They collect other fees and interest from most customers, plus merchant fees on every purchase. There's an incentive to keep you as a customer even if it's on a free card.

I had a really tight deadline for the Southwest companion pass deal, since I signed up for both cards on October 4th of last year. Looks like I went over the 2k spend a bit early on one of the cards and the 60k released before the new year. Am I **** out of luck?

Other 60k should be releasing next statement.

That sucks. I would call southwest cs and check with them. I've read both stories of them being exceedingly cool and sticklers, but nothing about this situation.

As I finally opened up Chase savings and checking accounts to claim the $500, the banker was telling me that Chase will no longer product change Sapphire cards to Freedom. This is annoying, as I was waiting for April to be able to downgrade the Preferred (I'm keeping the Reserve).

Did they say when this is happening? I have several friends in the same boat with the reserve.

Seems to be as of the new year or sometime last month. It doesn't really affect me with 5/24. It's just annoying about having to get credit pulled for opening the Freedom. It's so stupid when you hav four other Chase cards that you've never had a balance on and two accounts with the bank. In November, we renewed our lease of a condo. After 12 months of paying rent on time, you didn't see the landlord saying he needed to pull our credit to renew the lease. Of course not, he already has firsthand knowledge of us being responsible.

Gah. I'm in the same boat, with both a CSR and CSP, and was hoping to choose one to downgrade within the next couple months. Does anyone know if this applies to downgrading to all the lower Chase cards (e.g., Ink), or just to the Freedom?

Just an FYI for anyone that is lol/24 and likes Hilton points, Amex just released their new Hilton cobranded cards. They have mediocre appeal, but can have decent value, especially if you stay often at Hilton properties.

I just got instant approval for the Biz card and will consider getting the Aspire in the future either to triple dip credits in December, or if I have a redemption in mind for the free weekend night + resort credit.

I'll be paying a $95 AF. I have a hotel booking in mind that will get me 3 free nights from the signup bonus, where the cash rate would be about $600 total. So a ~$500 signup bonus, which isn't amazing, but being at lol/24 and running low on new bonus options, this was a no-brainer for me.

You could never downgrade a personal card to a business card, but I did downgrade the Ink Business Preferred to an Ink Cash in early December. I'm not sure if that has now been disallowed as well.

Yeah, I just had 125k hilton points put in my account. At the time, you could only get that bonus through TPG, not sure if that's the case now or not.

I was clicking around CreditKarma a bit, how can my TransUnion report have 8 hard inquiries and my Equifax only showing 2 hard inquiries?

100k Hilton points won't be bad, had the Hhonors cards with Citi(both wife and I). They are no annual fee and have been just sitting for me(i usually cancel so I can get the bonus again in the future). my wife signed up for the new Hilton through Amex based on this recommendation: http://frequentmiler.boardingarea.co...0%28Instant%29

120k through TPG would have been nice but I no longer saw that available. well, I had not really thought of this until now, but, I have the "new" Hilton Honors card that was transferred to Amex from Citi. these cards(my wife and I + I am an AU on hers) can't be activated until the 30th of Jan. I kind of had intentions of canceling but these should be no annual fee cards since they were converted from Citi HHonors no annual fee card, correct? So, I should probably activate them and create new Amex logins with each card to take advantage of Amex offers, right?

Hilton points are garbage in terms of value. Starwood/Marriott much better (Starwood worth 3x Marriott, great redemption for both).

Card issuers pull different credit bureaus, typically varies by where you live. With the exception of barclays, who always seems to pull TU.

Yes, they'll be no AF cards. Many people are recommending you cancel and apply for them directly if you want, so you get a signup bonus. May be too late for you, not sure.
