here's a strange question about something........

OP says make your minimum payment every month. usually its very small so it's only remembering and some admin time.

but say my minimum monthly payment is $50 and in december i pay down this CC $2,000................ i don't make any payments the next 3 months, so 3 late payments. but why don't they rejig it so that you get credit for $1850 payment in december and $50 payments each of the next 3 months. and charge a nice fee for this....

i understand "rejig" is probably bad in lots of ways. but why not have an option where i can pay my CC company $500 in trust and they'll make $50 minimum payment each month......... my main bank makes a minimum payment on my credit line each month from my chequing account right now.

or even this: the CC company would automatically cash-advance me $50 each month and then immediately apply it to my CC bill as minimum monthly payment.

Would the cc company make more or less money doing that?

I'm sure it's illegal for them to cash advance you when you haven't requested it.
It sounds like you want to trade one fee (late fee) for another (cash advance APR) which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. They're both penalties for being late, what does it matter what they call it?

Just don't carry a balance on your cards!!!

What's the best way you guys have found to mimic direct deposit for the Chase checking account bonus?

chase is one of the easiest - you can do literally almost anything and it will count

I think I transferred money to my Chase Checking Account from both my PayPal and Draftkings account simultaneously a couple months ago, and one of those (or both) fulfilled the direct deposit requirement.

FWIW I used a TopCashBack payment of like $5 a few months ago and it triggered the bonus. In the past I have used ACH pushes from other banks to trigger it as well.

Banks don't care if you hit the minimum spend in a single transaction, right?

wife recently signed up for card that provides: $100 Travel Discretionary Fund – Enroll your TravElite Card with Premium Concierge and receive up to $100 in statement credits yearly to use for baggage, fees, airport lounge access, on-board food and beverage and more.

i googled Premium Concierge and am not having much luck. i am not familiar with this service, how do i enroll and take advantage? got flights scheduled in September would like our baggage and onboard food/beverage covered with said feature.

will call phone number on back of card for answers as well

Anyone have experience with the financial review? Got approved for one of their gold rewards cards last month and a few days ago got called saying the card had been put on hold and they needed to clarify what I said for my income when applying as well as recent pay stubs and bank statements. Renovating my bathroom and just spend more in general than what my taxable income dictates so I'm wondering what's going to happen/how long the process normally takes.

if you didn't lie about your income it should be no problem - worst case they could lower your credit limits, best case nothing happens. just comply with what they want as quickly as possible and let them know you're doing home renovations and would appreciate if they expedited the review.

Thanks. I can't remember if I lied about my income bc it's very small compared to my actual income (poker) and I may have said something like 5k more when speaking with them on the phone than when talking with them. I'll try to reach them to mention the renovations.

Hoping to get some more help from you guys, should be a simple question.

I'm checking my credit score. The one score says I owe $8 in an account that was closed in 2012, I'm almost positive that this was 100% paid off but have no way to prove it. Is it worth fighting this in any way?

Does it show up in the negative accounts / affecting your score section? What's your FAKO score?

I know it's essentially meaningless but it was still pretty gratifying to hit 800 on Credit Karma this week.

my score is about 650, which is up about 75 points in the last month after opening up the first 2 CC in my life.

I'm just checking on creditkarma, so I'm not sure if this is what's considered negative accounts/affecting my score, but its under both "missed payments in history" and "remarks on accounts".

ETA-actually, would this be in "closes as derogatory"? It's in that too

Also, there's a second ding in here from 2010. It's from a bank that says my account was closed for derogatory reasons deposit related, but there's no money owed? Not sure what this could be about.

negative remarks fall off after 7 years, so don't worry about the one from 2010.

If you're at 650 after opening your first two cards ever, you should just continue to use them responsibly and as your history builds you will see a huge jump in your score. It's very difficult to tell of the $8 is negatively affecting your account since you have limited credit history.

Personally I would not do anything for a few months, wait for the 2010 thing to drop, and see if you get a score over 700. If you do, not worth trying to mess with the $8 thing.

I'm now at 2/24, getting ready to app-o-rama for some big bonuses. Here's my (tentative) plan, feel free to shoot me some referrals as I'd prefer to get some value for 2p2'ers over randoms on reddit.

Chase Ink Preferred 80k UR, some talk on reddit of getting matched to 100k UR via SM after it clears so I'll give that a shot too. Chase Southwest Plus for 40k UR. BoA Merrill+ for 50k whatever points ($500 cash.) I also have a targeted Citi TY Preferred 50k + 5k AU offer I'm mulling, probably would need to do some MS for it though.

Do you have a working link to the Merrill Visa+ or are you calling in? I don't think there's a working link.

Without knowing your particulars I can't comment on the other ones. Piles of UR are great, southwest is not my first choice but that's due to location, im sure it's good for you if you're going for it. Why 40k for it?

Drat, you're right, I was looking at old info on the Merrill. Just as well, hate BoA. The SW cards were reduced to 40k points, it's just what makes the most sense for me from Chase's offerings right now. I could get the CSR but I am hoping to see the bonus go back up first.

So, maybe I'll just try for the Ink Preferred, SW Plus, and TY Premier, then I'll have a slot open for in case the CSR bonus goes back up since the Ink wouldn't count against 5/24.

Edit: I do see some successful TR's of calling in for the Merrill+ and getting the 50k bonus. Maybe not off the table yet (I haven't got a banking relationship with them so I may play it safe and pass anyway.)

FYI: The southwest card is going to give you SW miles, not UR.

If you are 2/24 and going to get a SW card then you should probably get 2 and go for a companion pass.

True, I misspoke (mistyped?) I will probably use the points for Amazon, I don't have plans on traveling. Just bonus whoring.
