Funny I think the right message would have been 'Let's all wear a mask so we can play some football this year." No 'as irritating as that may be" or "and I promise I hate it more than anyone."

Oh, and maybe 3 months ago. Not friggin Aug 4th.

I can't believe these dipshits didn't (at the very least) have the basic insight to realize how much football props up economies in most of those small college towns and put 2 and 2 together.

I mean college coaches are some the most isolated live in their own universe psychos but even Saban and Coach O were preaching this stuff in April.

They were too busy hoping and praying it would go away on its own without any effort on their part.

this is basic advertising 101. you have to convince people to change their mind. you're not worried about the ones who already agree. the issue is so polarized, every republican governor should wear a maga mask. i won't criticize a single one.

Oh, he's been doing it for a couple of months but in the tone of an ineffective parent. "If you don't wear masks, we may not be able to have college football."

Concurrently he steadfastly refused to implement a statewide mask mandate until today because "If I do it statewide, the people in less affected areas will ignore it and not wear masks. It will be much more effective for me to designate which counties must wear masks." Meanwhile his state's numbers kept getting worse and worse so today he issued a statewide mask order. Also today he ordered schools to start as scheduled but ordered a two week delay for grades 7-12 in a few selected counties.

He's obviously not a live and learn kind of guy. He's a POS Trump worshiper and doesn't want to infuriate the puppetmaster. I wish him well.

As far as CDC guidelines regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, clearly the auto racing community is turning a deaf ear. Social distancing was not recognized in the pit area or the grandstands. Of the thousands of people in attendance, masks were essentially obsolete.

“I’m just not that concerned about the virus in South Dakota. No…I’m not,” said Sioux Falls resident Paul Clancy, who hesitated with his answer. “Well, I guess I’m somewhat concerned. I’m going to try and separate myself from most of the people in the stands. Hopefully it won’t be that crowded.”

lol imagine walking around that place with a mask? You'd be cat-called from near and far all freaking day, with no letup in sight. Every name in the book, all day.

I'd even go as far as to say you would be threatened, intimidated, and even assaulted, considering there are real bikers attending. Real motorcycle club guys are not to be ****ed with.

I read somewhere earlier today that Sturgis is expecting 250,000 visitors between Friday and Aug 13. WTH? Sturgis may be a ghost town next year. Can't be good news for a lot of other communities either.

Sept/Oct really is going to be a bloodbath. Pretty much everywhere, even the 'good' states.

As someone alluded earlier, the FL numbers are such bullshit now. White House took over daily numbers from CDC on July 15-16 lol what a ****ing joke:

Just draw a straight line down why don't ya, you freaking mooks.

They only took over hospitalization numbers, not case numbers.

But Florida did close a bunch of testing centers the past 5 days due to the hurricane passing by, so that will crush the testing numbers for the next 1-2 weeks depending on delay in getting results.

Also looks like about a week or two ago they decided to “test less to have less cases.”

The town where I was has had no deaths and a total of 4 cases out of 10K people, in other words one per 2.5K people - which are basically E. European style numbers anyway.

It's very easy to get people to "stay at home" in a place like that where people have cars and houses and swimming pools (the cars mean it's easy to just do one supermarket run per week) - the high humidity may play a role too. In the Spanish cities it's completely different though of course.

I tend to think it's up to the authorities to say who they want to do quarantine, and Slovakia recently put Spain on its green list. There is some suggestion they might follow the Germans and introduce different rules for the people returning from the areas around Madrid and Barcelona though.

I'm not teaching live lessons this week though because of public/client perception.

No idea if these numbers are accurate but insane to think if this ratio got anywhere near close to par or negative we are in a world of pain

Apparently there is a COVID death every 15 seconds currently

There are on average 250 babies born every minute

The Wall Street Journal today suggests that federal vaccine approval in USA#9 could occur as early as October for Moderna and AstraZeneca. Obviously the number of doses would initially be limited, but this is definitely positive news.

Whether there is a viable one or not, there will be approval in October before the election.

It may then come out in November that the latest data from phase 3 shows we should wait or not do it, but something will come out in October to give hope before the election.

First person I know has died from covid. He was in his late 60s early 70s. Guy I played basketball with years ago. Really great dude. I figure this will continue for everybody and become a semi normal thing over the next few months.

I subscribe to this theory, as stated more poorly by me in the other thread.

This.

How could it be otherwise?

And, if it's viable, it will be immediately available to residents of WI, OH, MI, PA. If not, available to CA, MA, etc, where their states somehow screwed up administering it.
