My sister’s employer, a local car dealership for a big time car manufacturer, had 2 employees test positive and tried to keep it on the DL. Didn’t tell other employees, didn’t tell customers, and didn’t deep clean. They just tried to pretend like it never happened. She eventually found out from another employee.

Another discouraging read on the long tail of covid recovery and still-not-understood long-term effects.

Quote:
The virus is like a tornado. When it lands, it swirls through the body, causing chaos, confusion, coughs, wreaking damage to each organ it touches. Some won't survive its visit. For those that do, when it has gone, one surveys the damage to the human landscape and realizes it's much greater than first thought. My symptoms were on the milder side: I never had breathing difficulties, or loss of sense or smell. I was wiped-out tired and I always had "the cough," which has now returned.
Quote:
I have tested negative for the virus and positive for the antibodies, and my doctor says it won't return. But there are days when I feel that it has.
Quote:
For those who have not had Covid, or witnessed the mess it leaves behind, again, I urge you, do whatever you can to avoid this tornado.
It will roar through the body -- kill some on the way -- injure all in its path -- and then when you think "well, thank God that's gone," look around, the damage is strewn everywhere and will be with you long after the crisis has passed.
**** **** ****.

I keep posting this stuff on Chiefsplanet and they keep demanding numbers as to how often it's happening for a given covid infection. So if you see those please pass them along.

A couple weeks ago, one of my favorite restaurants suddenly closed with a message on their website that they'll be back on the 10th. Takeout, delivery, everything just stopped.

I can't help but assume that was a Corona situation.

I’ve had a few restaurants in my area close due to employees testing positive. And they made a post about it on Facebook.

One time is enough for me. No booze party, dinner party, gathering, whatever, is enough for me to care to take the risk.

I was bartending yesterday and the topic of the bar top being closed was brought up by these 3 good ole boys in their 40s and 50s. He asked if I wanted the bar open and I said no, that I dont want 10 people 3 feet from me breathing, talking, shouting, laughing, whatever. He told me maybe working in public with people may not be my thing and insinuated in a very flamboyant way that I should work outside with flowers.

I asked him what the **** his problem was and if he really believed what he just said. Of course they backed down when I explained to them no server wants the restaurant crowded right now. Things are not going to get better with people like this out there. They need to completely close down dine in restaurants for 3 months everywhere to have a chance.

A lot of that is holiday weekend backlog:

Quote:
California: Los Angeles County reported 4,015 new cases today with the note: "The high number of cases are, in part, due to a backlog of about 2,000 test results received from one lab who just submitted lab results from July 2-5 today" [source] On July 5, Los Angeles County had communicated that "Saturday's number is missing lab reports from one of the larger labs." [source] Worldometer has allocated part of the 4,015 cases in the preceding days in accordance with these notes

993 deaths for Tuesday, hopefully just a backlog of reporting from the previous 3 days from the holiday weekend (all 3 days well under 400 deaths)

Do not ****ing want.
Had this after pneumonia at age 12. If I took a deep breath with my mouth open you could hear my lungs like Rice Crispies. Don't remember exactly when it went away.
Moving to LV at 21 might have made a difference.

Not necessarily...the current variant seems to be more contagious but far less lethal, at least with what is occurring in Texas.

Numbers in Texas, if you look at where they were May 19th (1369 deaths against 49,912 cases) as contrasted with yesterday's official report (2715 deaths against 210585 cases) is a drop in the fatality rate from roughly 2.74% to 1.28%.

I have not looked at other State counts to see if they are experiencing a similar trend.

It's likely a combination of the virus mutating to being less lethal and also the treatments/medications being more effective

An, of course, a much higher percentage of the positive tests are coming from younger people whose IFRs are drastically lower than old people
