So it's about to be AC season and my window unit overlooks a popular street about 20 feet up where bar's are starting to have outdoor drinking. Am I at risk? Assume not really but I do know when someone is smoking a cig on the corner across the street I can smell it.

Yes, looks scary but dig into the cdc numbers and there isn’t a spike of pneumonia deaths that aren’t already in the covid bucket. Nate Silver breaks it down better. Basically deaths are underreported but the pneumonia rabbit hole isn’t it.

It's not aerosolized. I highly doubt the droplets will make it up that far and through your AC filter.

Dangerously.

Girlfriend and I buzzed my hair a week or two ago in the driveway, it feels awesome. Much shorter than I normally cut it, but the shag was driving me crazy. Probably need to shape up the sides and back this weekend, but I've got no complaints! I honestly doubt I'll go out to get a haircut before 2021.

I'm just imagining a lot of laughing/shouting and a wind draft whipping the plague at me the way other smells do though yeah it's obv notably different than most smells. My AC is like one of those accordian like things so it's not really completely sealed and I'm an anxious mofo

I don't agree with worrying about it this much but have read it travels on air currents and on air pollution and smoke particles. You can buy FPR 10 air filters from Home Depot and tape them in front of your air conditioning vent to filter out particles that can carry the virus.

Can you smell it when one of them passes wind and aerosolizes a burrito?

Thanks for the dentist and haircut discussion. I really need a haircut, but have been avoiding it. I should have done it on day 1 when they reopened, now I'm probably screwed.

I went to good 'ol Great Clips for a hair cut on Wednesday night wearing a mask and it was zero problem.

My first official hair since early March. I do have a clipper that I had used on the back & sides the last few months but the top is impossible to cut w/out giving yourself a buzz cut. I'm glad I went, it feels sooooo much better on the top, especially now that we've hit 105+ degrees this week.

There is something special about cigarette smoke, I swear I can smell it from at least 100ft. I'm trying to figure out how to get my neighbor to quit smoking so I can have my windows open.

If this doesn't cause any new covid hotspots we are good for the summer at least...

Went to the local supermarket this morning, and despite the fact that there are two groups of people handing out free N95 masks outside, it is optional, and therefore inside maybe only 20% are wearing them. This is what happens when you have a weak government message. UK second wave is a guarantee at this stage.

And they are all wearing masks because they don't want to be easily identified through pictures or videos.

That's the one place I see people consistently wearing masks around here. Definitely a majority. Not so much at the gym. Also, not so much anywhere in redneck Florida when I was down there last weekend, either.

Latest US vs. European average death graphs

European deaths continue to decline consistently, though less quickly than last week. The UK now accounts for more than half of the deaths across all five nations. Spain has been reporting close to zero deaths in last four days.

Weekly average US deaths have been flat since Memorial Day, while US cases have been flat for almost a month.

I see it like something of a natural law that cases will escalate when we are opening up. Tomorrow is a critical day, restaurants opening, though with half the previous maximal numbers of customers. Symptomatic is our apartments will have a get together party on the backyard that very day (will not attend)

Think people want to party now, and take the blow in fall. I'd rather wait for a vaccine.
