You've been getting your annual flu shot every year tho.

Haven't checked case counts lately but anecdotally I have noticed a definite uptick in the number of acquaintances saying they have Covid. Fortunately none of them have (apparently) been real sick.

New variant seems like a bitch. Basically, being vaccinated doesn’t matter for
BA.5.

It still reduces severity of disease but its not going to stop you catching it, also catching it is not going to stop you catching it a few months later.

So bitch is fair.

Never saw the point but another thing covid and the flu bros did was raise awareness of the flu. I had no idea precovid how dangerous the flu is.
Real question. What do you think is more effective? Current covid vax against omnicron 5 or seasonal flu vax vs the flu.
Cannot say both.

Not sure but hopefully covid has made people realize that not getting vaccinated for stuff then spreading germs to other vulnerable people is a dick move. Get the flu shot everybody

Didn't realize this was a thing until now, but some positive at-home test results can be so faint, they're almost undetectable on first glance. I got covid a week ago and my wife and kids had it 2 days later.
This is a positive test from one of my sons on day 4

For comparison my own positive test result on my 4th day:

That top one was how mine looked. My wife and I debated until we finally agreed it was positive as the directions said "any line at all" or "any orange at all"--I can't recall which.

Then everyone in the house tested and two lit up like neon. A couple days later the rest lit up to various degrees.

Anyone else noticed that those tests show positive like a day or two after it's obvious someone is infected? Known so many people in the last 6 weeks or so who have been symptomatic, know where their exposure came from but don't get the faintest line until their 2nd day of being sick.
Seems to be an omnicron thing.

My wife tested negative for 3 full days after her symptoms popped up. Started with a fever on Tuesday and didnt have a positive test until Friday.
My 6 year old on the other hand, tested positive before having any symptoms at all, and the only reason we tested him was bc of my initial positive result.

Caught it while traveling in late June...that was our story. Wife and I both had cold like symptoms (sore throat, super tired)...wasn't until really a full two days into that that we tested positive.

Edit to say it continued to get worse after positive too - but really just a bad head cold in terms of overall sickness. Had lingering cough for a week or two after.

It just means the test is **** and cant register a positive until there is a really high viral load.

Yeah but then positive tests continue for so long after symptoms have gone.
But yes, they're ****

Ever wondered why those crazy, stupid, ignorant, selfish anti-(covid)-vaxxers wanna kill your granny? This documentary may give you some insight into the minds of those nut jobs that you probably wished death upon:

Any day now. They just tested it on 8 mice, so should be good to go.

eat one clove of garlic a day, the rona has no chance imo. That is if you dont have pre-existing issues, only and a strong immune system!
Or eat kimchi every day, that has lots of garlic and more stuff in it like ginger. thats how I prep. F the rona, I even tried to get it, everyone in my family got it, I never did.

Is there anyone else on this forum who never had corona?

I swear I had it in mid-March 2020 (all the symptoms) but was refused a test since I wasn't hospitalized (but tested negative for antibodies in May 2020)

Otherwise, I've tested negative on all 30+ PCR/rapid/home tests since then, despite known exposures 5x and having all major symptoms on 4 different occasions.
