I'd probably do the same only because it can't be difficult to find a good caregiver who is actually vaccinated at this point. If it was earlier when vaccine availability was very limited I'd have to think more carefully. And I'd be pissed at the agency for lying about all of their people being vaccinated.

Got my first dose of Moderna today about 9 hrs ago. Slightly sore arm most of the day. Felt fine otherwise but just noticed that I feel like I have a slight fever now, so slight that I likely wouldn't have even noticed if I wasn't looking for symptoms.

If she said they were all vaccinated that’s what I’d expect.

However, if you didn’t explicitly ask or specify, then I guess it’s slightly on you.

Still, I wouldn’t expect that to be necessary if she said they were vaccinated.

I don’t know. Annoying situation, I’m sure, and being fully vaccinated on you and your grandma’s end is likely enough. But why take unnecessary risks?

That's exactly what I told the lady in the agency's office. If it would have been a few months ago, I could maybe understand, but anyone who wants to be vaccinated at this point, is vaccinated, at least around here. Also, this is just to help us stay sane, dealing with someone who's slowly but surely losing her mind a day at a time. It's not like it's an emergency situation where we HAVE to have someone immediately. We can deal with everything ourselves until we get the right situation.

Yeah, no excuse for not being vax'ed now, especially for anyone working as a caregiver. I'm sure they would have been near the front of the line early on and now, as you say, supply isn't an issue. When my wife and I decided it was finally time to get the shots I went on the CVS website and could have scheduled one that day if we wanted.

Front line workers should be vaxxed. But not fair to expect everyone to be fully vaxxed. I live in SC. Opened up to 16+ on 3/31. Was finally able to schedule for 4/9 on 4/3. Second Moderna this Friday 5/7. So I did it ASAP, and I’m not quite there yet.

However, definitely a difference in those trying to be fully vaxxed and those who are not.

And I’m over 3 weeks in on my first shot, so feel pretty good about my spot.

If you guys and, especially gma, liked the person a lot, I would tell the agency that you all really liked the person and would love to have her as a regular if she ever becomes fully vaccinated. Until then you can continue without a caregiver or ask the agency to send different vaccinated people, perhaps a couple of days a week, to see if you find someone else that you thought that much of.

That will give you a chance to interview others, in case gma goes unexpectedly downhill, as well as maybe helping the caregiver to bother herself enough to get the vaccine.

Mark just ask yourself what would piss you off more: over reading or her getting covid

I’m not sure how it’s an overreaction. “We’re all vaccinated” implies 100% of their employees are vaccinated. Lying to you should kill the deal right there.
More importantly, they obviously DGAF about their clients’ safety. Given that asymptomatic transmission is a thing, the best vaccines still leave 1 in 20 susceptible to infection, and the mortality rate for the elderly is abysmal, it’ll be two weeks before you know if you’re dealing with a potential case of negligent homicide.

The lie itself is worth a hostile reaction. The actual danger is subject to rather more debate, however. But because your risk preferences are solely yours to decide, the lie is what matters here.

My wife does some work for a healthcare agency. I was shocked when she told me that they don't require all employees to be vaccinated. I thought that her agency must be an outlier, but I guess not.

For the person at the agency to assure you that an unvaccinated employee coming to your home is vaccinated is unacceptable.

In defense of the lady doing the assessment, I think the "everyone is vaccinated" misunderstanding is probably mostly my fault. The conversation wasn't really a conversation. When I was letting her in the door she had a mask on and I told her that we are all vaccinated and if she was she could take the mask off. That was when she said "We're all vaccinated too". So, in hindsight, I don't know who she was talking about, maybe her family, but I assumed, without clarifying at any point later, that she was referring to the company. I find it really baffling that anyone in health care, especially working with elderly people, would even consider it ok to not be vaccinated at the first opportunity.

This might surprise you, but everyone in that business who doesn't work outside the office is in it for the money and only the money. Everyone!

The people in that business who actually provide healthcare services are generally in it for the flexibility of the work schedule. Some are actually interested in doing a good job as well.

Lol. Pretty sure I got injected with actual COVID instead of the vaccine. 48 hours of intense symptoms. I spent a 19 hour stretch without getting out of my bed but still unable to sleep. Sweated so much I lost 9lbs over the two days. Ate my first meal today around 2. An hour later, like someone flipped a switch, feel perfectly normal now. 12 more days to freedom.
