2nd moderna shot yesterday and I couldn’t sleep, chills, back pain, sore arm, fatigue, headache. Sounds like I got all the standard symptoms except nausea. It’s not fun but it’s not terrible just glad I took the day off work to do nothing.

Got AZ1 four hours ago. The only thing I felt was it going in and a couple of tingles around the site within the 1st 5 minutes.

1st shot yesterday, Pfizer.

After about 3hrs upper shoulder where I got the shot became quite sore, but oddly doesn't affect actual movement. Still able to workout no issues.

No other symptoms and it's been about 24hrs now but soreness is still quite prevalent.

Also my windows applications seem to be working much faster.

"Likely" and "expects" do not equal "objectively how it's going to be." Why do you have so much trouble with this concept?

At no point did I say that further shots won't be needed. I said that opinions aren't facts, and you should stop presenting them as such.

Yeah I mean we have to get the flu shot every year and for others you need boosters every few years. Have people never gotten vaccines before?

I got 2 of 2 Pfizer today. So far only arm hurts a little but I assume I’ll know full effects tomorrow as I felt fine after the first dose until the 2nd day. The 1st does kicked my ass- was supposed to work from home during the day but just sleep 3-4 hours. Hoping the 2nd isn’t as bad but who knows.

I find it odd that some people have side effects and others don’t (2 of my friends said they felt normal after the 1st dose).

Btw I feel the govt should try to mandate people have vaccine cards for big events like going to concerts, ballgames, etc. I’m really sick and tired of the anti vaxx crowd. Some chick I know from work keeps posting on fb how the vaccine is bad etc etc and I wanna tell her she’s a dumdum but not going to. It’s really scary how many people won’t get the vaccine. Oddly it’s a lot more people than you would think for a simple vaccine. Idk man. This country really does have a lot of idiots.

Unfortunately, I have to deal with someone on a day to day basis that claims the "unregulated" vaccines are more dangerous to her healthy 33 year-old body than the coronavirus and she sees no point in taking a vaccine because she's going to live anyway and even with the vaccine you can still get the virus and spread it.

I want to put my foot down. She continues to send me CDC and WHO links claiming the links prove the vaccine is "unregulated" and you can still spread covid with the vaccine and she renders it useless and nothing but a risk to her health.

Luckily for humanity she rarely leaves her house.

What are some good counter arguments for people like this?

I’d probably just say COVID has killed more healthy 33 year olds than the vaccine.

If she argues back, I’d then run down the long-term health risks healthy 33 year olds could develop by catching COVID, even if they survive.

If she argues back, I’d probably end by telling her she’s a god damn ****ing moron who doesn’t understand science.

Guy I know had covid pretty bad for like 6 weeks at end of 2020 and now isn't getting the vaccine 'because I am immune. I have the antibodies.' Same guy who asked me if I trusted the gov't.

I just want covid to stop killing innocent people and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, but if there were ever to be a variant that just wreaked havoc on unvaxxed americans?..I'd be hard-pressed to feel anything resembling sympathy.

I did a confirmation bias approach with a good friend who says the vaccine is dangerous. Basically told him that 300 people dropped dead at a vaccine site in texas, but it was scrubbed from social media and the news won't cover it. He replied with something like "see it's happening".....later than night messaged him saying same thing happened this time in france with abt 450 people, again, scrubbed from social media and news won't cover it

He insta calls me going on and on about how he was right and what he heard abt the danger is true

After a few min I told him I did that to prove how easy fake vaccineshit can spread without any proof at all

He actually thanked me and said it changed the way he will view info when people tell him about how dangerous it is. This doesn't work with everyone but can highlight how susceptible people are to believe junk that confirms their preconception

I feel for everyone who has to interact with any anti-vaxxers in their daily life. People who rely on Facebook for their news are the nut low, although this applies to anyone.

What is the argument against this? This is something my brother is saying (at least at this stage it's academic as he only recovered last week).

I think he would have had the vaccine if he hadn't caught Covid, and has previously expressed pro-vaccination opinions on childhood vaccinations, so he isn't just a typical anti-vaxxer.

Does he refuse to get a flu shot because he had the flu one time?

I don't think your friend is 100% wrong as he likely does still have some level of immunity based on his previous infection. However I think the research has shown that the antibodies from vaccines are stronger and longer-lasting.

I think he should still get it, but not as bad as the pure anti-vaxxers.

Booked in for my 2nd dose of the Oxford bloodclotter next week, and picked a Friday just in case I get hit it a bit worse than the first dose.

Just starting back at the gym Monday after 4 1/2 months off, so could do without being laid up for days after the 2nd, lol.

On the antivaxxer stuff, one of my best mates has turned into a complete lunatic, and even with constant reminders to only talk to me about sport or travel, cannot help impart his wisdom.

Took great pleasure in telling him I was booked in for my 2nd yesterday, then watching him go on a longwinded messenger rant while I had lunch

I haven’t been in a rush to get the vaccine because I feel I’m immune from covid, but am scheduled for the first shot Tuesday. In early March, I took a girl on a three-day trip. We basically spent the entirety of three days together, with intimacy. On the drive home, she had a sneezing fit in the enclosed car. Then she woke up the next morning with no taste and smell. But I never got sick, waited for five days and then got a covid test, which came back negative, then waited three weeks and got an antibody test, which came back negative. Since then, I’ve been eating indoors at restaurants and going shopping as before without concern. But I figure I’ll need the vaccine card to do something I want to do at some point.

If you mean my brother I don't know because we live in different countries but I doubt he gets it at all as he's under 50 and the UK health system doesn't pay for that for under 50s - and it's not something under 50s in the UK would typically think about.

But isn't the main argument for a flu shot to get up to date on the latest variants circulating? He has already had the 2021 variant so what does he gain from a vaccine developed on the 2020 variant - which is antigenically similar anyway?
