edit: Canada has 2 cases of clots in 700,000 doses of AZ.
Have there been any cases of people dying of coronavirus itself in neighboring Alberta, or even in your province itself? Based on the answer to that you can judge the relative risks.

I'm amazed this is even a poker forum
2/700,000
.0000028 chance. You have ~2x better chance of hitting a royal flush on your next hand of poker

I think I read that the AZ blood clot presents differently than usual so doctors didn't know to look for it but now that's changing so it's more likely to be detected before it becomes fatal

Actually got this backwards, you're ~2x more likely to get the blood clot than hit a royal flush on your next hand

Again, cannot believe this is a poker forum with shitposts like mine included!

A guy I know was telling me the other day that he was 'waiting to see on the vaccine.' He had covid last fall and says he doesn't really *need* to get one yet so he is not going to.
He then asked me if I trusted the government, to which I replied 'I am the biggest anti-govt person going, but the vaccine isn't made by the gov't dumdum. It's made by scientists."

Today he texted me no less than 4 links to asthma meds helping with covid etc, and I finally just replied to him:

Q: What do you call someone who refuses to get a vaccine?

A: An anti-vaxxer.

So chose wisely, because those are the stakes.

At an outdoor pool party / kids birthday party with 4 families with all adults vaccinated and we are doing no masks unless we go inside. Feels kinda normal

The state covid dial is no longer in force here, and it's up to each county to set requirements as they feel appropriate.

Went for a walk yesterday which covered a small part of three counties. Didn't notice much different. I didn't see signs requiring masks on a couple places' door where I thought they had been previously, but might be mistaken. Most places still had 'mask required' signs.

I think mostly what happened was they're easing limits on attendance, as long as six-foot distance is maintained indoors.

I'll still mask up, it's not that big a deal.

They did not. Outside of a sore arm I felt ok this morning. Once we got playing I went downhill pretty quick. I actually played great, but every joint hurts. Knees, elbows, shoulders... everything. I'm 24 hours post shot now and have the chills real bad and the body aches are getting worse. Even laying down hurts. Could be in store for a rough night of sleep.

So I was basically more tired, and muscle-tired (e.g. flu) than normal in the afternoon and the following day. If I didn't know I had been injected I'm not sure I would have put it down to illness rather than just tiredness after a long week or something, so it was fine.

Completely ok now at exactly 48 hours after it was done.

Am I the only one with zero side effects for the second dose of Pfizer?

First dose I had fever and a sore arm. Was the second jab a phony?

My side effects weren't that bad, but they definitely happened.

But I don't think it's supposed to be cause for alarm if you don't suffer side effects.

My wife and I just got TDaP boosters. Side effects were on par with the Moderna vaccine and longer lasting (3-4 days instead of 1-2). Made me realize that I don't remember any side effects caused by vaccines in my youth and that the covid vaccines side effects are really just what happens and no big deal.

aside from a slightly sore arm I had zero side effects from either Pfizer. my wife had the sore muscles/joints, low energy, dull headache on day 2 and was fine after.

I'll be 2 weeks post shot #2 tomorrow. Strongly considering heading to the casino and playing some poker this weekend. AZ cases are down plus my vaccination should mean why am I worried?

I certainly wouldn't worry about doing stuff like that once I hit my two-week mark. Except that I would be annoyed to wear a mask for something as long as a poker session if the place is still mandating them.

You're done for now. Do whatever you want. Let the deprogramming commence.

That is what it feels like. Reprogramming my habits learned over the last 13 months.

I enjoyed this article today: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/19/b...gtype=Homepage

For your deprogramming pleasure.

Agree RE-programming probably a better description, but it is most definitely a thing.

Edit: Great article.

The day I got my first shot I booked a trip to Vegas (didn't go until a month after second) but as soon as I got vaccinated I said "screw covid". It is no longer something I even consider even though I still have to wear those godawful masks in public.

Nice! I'll be in that camp on Thursday, and have already booked a Vegas trip in May! I also haven't drank yet this year until I'm fully vaxxed, so will be considering that to celebrate, too

I should add, this has to be compared to the situation of my brother, who caught Covid a few weeks short of when he would have got his vaccine, and has been ill for three weeks now (though almost recovered now). People on the fence need to think hard about what they're most afraid of.
