Sleeping was the major thing on mine, as I slept prob 24 hours over Sat/Sun night after getting mine.

I struggle with sleep normally, so other than the chills/headache it was a welcome side, lol.

I was back to 100% by the Monday after having my first dose.

My wife, mother-in-law, and I all just got our second shot. I'll report tomorrow on if it kicked our ass or not.

Howard,

Is "Infelt" some legal term in your spellchecker? Twice now you have posted that when I'm sure you meant "I felt"?

You got the new version of the shingles one, Shingrix, that takes 2 doses?

i use swype on the gboard (you may notice how sometimes i have nonsensical words mixed in), most annoying correction i often fail to notice is turn "another" into "anthers" like i'm some botanist

I never have more than a sore arm from flu shot and same with dose 1 of Pfizer. The shingles vaccine, otoh, kicked my ass hard. I felt legit sick and just wanted to sleep for a full day.

true, very disapointed it hasn't improved more, especially since they can finish writing your sentences in gmail with surprising accuracy and even predict the next one

still far better than tapping, i don't understand why it's not mainstream

Got the shot at about 2:00. Felt fine until about 8:00 when my arm started getting sore where the injection was. Started getting real tired and went to bed at 9:00. (This was the plan anyway because my wife had to get up at 5:00 for a conference call.) Fell right to sleep but woke up at 10:30 and I was roasting from a fever. Slept on and off until about 3:00 when I ended up awake for good and had chills instead of a fever. The fever goes in and out but doesn't seem to be as bad as in the middle of the night. Right now I have a little headache and feel about the same as I would if I only slept 4 hours the night before (which is what I did). We'll see how I feel later in the day.

My wife feels pretty good, better than me. We'll check on my mother-in-law later.

Are there any accepted theories on why some people get hit hard after vaccines and others not at all? I'm hoping it's hereditary as my parents have both had theirs now(1 AZ and 1 pfizer) and neither had any side effects at all.

I remember feeling a slight malaise after getting my yellow fever jab but not enough to warrant painkillers.

We've gone from 200 cases a day, 2-4 deaths per day and about a 15% positive rate to 15-20 cases a day, 0 deaths in the last month, and 5-6% positive rate. It didn't really appear here until around June and our numbers are now the best we have had since it arrived. I think the big snow storm was the best thing that could have happened, especially being timed up with the vaccine.

Dose 1 of Moderna today. So far so good. The county Health Department I registered with said the Illinois Department of Public Health told them not to bother verifying that we qualify any longer, as I had planned to take a med to prove my eligibility as a diabetic.

Dose 2 in 31 days.

Think it has more to do with individual immune response. From what I've read older people have generally had fewer and less severe side effects, because their immune response is not as strong.

It's nice to read this thread and see more posts about people getting the vaccine, as opposed to the posts about overrun hospitals etc. Could also be the warmer weather finally getting here, but this is as optimistic as I've felt in quite a while.

I agree. It's been nice here, so seeing more neighbors out in the area. Had a few of the older folks mention in conversation they've had their vaccines.

in california you can volunteer to help vaccinate people, and jump the line to get vaccinated yourself.

volunteer for as little as 4 hours, and you're on the bottom tier to jump the line. volunteer more hours and get in a higher tier.

So you need to be exposed to potentially covid patients for 4 hours before getting the vaccine.?

My wife signed up to volunteer next week in AZ. She will get her first shot then after 6 hours of work, and also make an appointment for her second shot when she is done. She told me about it an hour later and they were all filled up. Easy way to bribe people to volunteer.
