Not sure if this story is getting any coverage outside of the local NYC area... Staten Island bar declared itself an "Autonomous Zone" and refused to comply with state/city indoor dining restrictions. In a surprise to no one, they got their liquor license yanked, were shut down by the cops, and were fined tens of thousands of dollars.

I get the frustration of small business owners but Staten Island is the most infected area in NYC right now.

Apparently, there was a large underground music festival held not far from me and someone ended up getting shot and killed. People are really upset about the shooting but not so much the fact there was a large music festival.

I do too, but it's different. The whole disease felt different from any colds and flus I've had before.

For colds it's more the build up/congestion that causes your nose to be plugged and unable to smell. With Covid it was more a feeling that someone had sprayed water or some chemical up my nose and I couldn't get it out. I had no congestion whatsoever, just a mild burning sensation whenever I breathe in through my nose. I lost my sense of smell/taste 14 days ago and I'd say right now I've improved from 0% smell/taste to about 15% in that time.

Have you noticed anything smelling different since you got your smell back? Some people have reported normal food (can't remember which) smelling like rotting meat.

No, thankfully. Everything just smells and tastes very muted. Only odd tasting thing was that blueberries tasted super sour for some reason. I found a comment on Reddit where someone said the same thing.

This. One of my college friends is maybe the smartest people I know. Top few for sure. Master's in Physics, has worked in aerospace for 30+ years. Just a brilliant person.

Also very much a Christian. He can't explain the seeming contradictions between those parts of his life in a way I understand it. The God thing works for him, so we just don't bring it up.

if you like pascal's wager then you would like buying souls if the contract was somehow binding. even 1k to buy someone's soul would be a tiny amount compared to the possibility of owning a soul for infinity
