Day, changes every day.
Month changes every month
Year changes every year.

Options is a ridiculous thing to prioritise over the inherent size of the unit.

Its pure dumb on every level and afaik USA is the only country to use this method, because yea its dumb.

I save all my documents with year, month, date so they are easily sortable by date.

We use that method in Canada too. I guess both are used which is frustrating in itself due to lack of consistency, but month/day/year is waaaaaaaay more prevalent from my experience

There's your experience, then there is being able to check on the internet. Get out much?

EDIT: Sorry read your post wrong, I thought you meant both are used internationally with yank system being more prevalent, when internet tells me both are used internally in Canada. That is the woat of date notation.

Left my original post there because I am big enough to live with the shame.

Yea just meant Canada lol, we often mix unit systems in casual convos/settings which is annoying, but we def use the month/day/year notation more often which I agree with you is dumb

edit: also did a quick google search because I was now curious and without looking into it further, the suggested reply said "According to wikipedia, the only countries that use the MM/DD/YYYY system are the US, the Philippines, Palau, Canada, and Micronesia" We're in good company

How do you say the date of New Year's Day without sounding like an idiot? First January? I think not.

First of January, or January the First.

You do realise that both systems notate this day exactly the same numerically?

Its almost like speaking and writing are two different form of symbology with their own inherent organisational principles, almost.

You can say it either way?
But writing it, one way is right and one is wrong?

Really? Did you even reflect for one second before writing this.

Hint we are not actually talking about writing how we speak it verbatim.

It's frustrating how there seems to be a lack of reliable data on the prevalence of "long COVID".

This paper says 24% of cases (mostly mild ones) have symptoms after 90 days: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1....07.20208702v1

This study says only 5% of *patients* (I assume this to mean people who seek medical treatment for covid) have symptoms lasting for months: https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-he...-idUKKBN26Z39Q

The difference between these is night and day, I'm willing to take more chances if the true rate is closer to the latter, but if the former number is the case it makes me want to exercise much more caution. Crazy that we haven't reached a consensus on this yet; this should probably be informing a lot of societal choices we make.

Yes, and using the genitive "októbra" instead of nominative "október" is equivalent to saying "of October" - so literally it's the "14th of October".

Hungarians have it right, year - month - day.

The only problem is the faux-Latin month names like "július" and so on.
