That confirms what I had seen before which was a report on Italy from April or early May. Asthma and other respiratory illnesses (excepting COPD which is truly awful) aren't nearly as bad as people would expect from a virus that causes pneumonia in serious cases.
Asthma is only listed as "might be at increased risk" and it's an alphabetical list so the first position is likely not it's actual place in the "might be" risk rankings. It couldn't make the list of nine (obesity is listed twice) "are at increased risk" conditions.
I would certainly be concerned about it but Christie definitely has a couple or more conditions that are far bigger problems.
I notice high blood pressure was on the CDC "might be at risk" list which is pretty ridiculous. The Italian study (which I can't find and only saw once months ago) had it solidly as the #1 most frequent risk factor in fatal cases. People with high blood pressure had significantly worse results than patients who were similar except not having high blood pressure.

From the article
Quote:
Among more than 11,000 people across 22 studies from eight countries, 42% of COVID-19 patients had high blood pressure, the researchers found. The next most common chronic illness was diabetes, which affected 23% of the patients.
High blood pressure on its own was associated with a higher likelihood of death, the combined results showed.
All I can figure is the CDC put high blood pressure on the "might be a risk" list because no one has quite figured out why it's a problem. It's definitely a severe risk factor though. No might be about it.
