Makes me keep a closer eye on his decision making going forward. Same guy who comes to my office and starts taking his mask off instantly if he slightly enters my doorway to talk to me because hallway = common area and masks required but 6 inches into my doorway isn’t.

It was a really bad time for a nazi reference. It makes the most sense as "the people listening to the authorities" being the nazi compliers but i imagine he meant that the people protesting against the government are the nazis compliers.

I haven't checked the deaths/million rankings in some time but i see that Bolivia has come out of nowhere to be #6. Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, and Chile are all in the top 10. I speculate that it being winter in the southern hemisphere has been a factor. The USA is currently in 11th and will oust the UK from 10th soon. Pretty amazing by the UK as it looked like they might be the overall champs at one point. Italy and Sweden also out of the top 10. Impressive work, Europe.

How do we reconcile this? I am paraphrasing a smart person that had another very smart person agreed with them:

"Never forget that the March 15 lockdown was intended to not have the hospitals get initially overwhelmed and here we are six months later."

There are no politics or bias attached to that statement. He is simply making an observation. How do we reconcile this?

1) lockdown was haphazard and messaging was inconsistent at best
2) Goal was not only keep hospitals from being overwhelmed but to allow time to adopt robust program of testing and tracing

if we go about our normal routines the hospitals will be overwhelmed. that was the case in march, and it's still the case now

I agree, and we have learned enough and built enough good habits that we won't have mass chaos in the hospitals if we open everything up IMO. But I am still against it.

When they say "even when a vaccine comes it will take a while to administer", what does that look like? If this Pfizer vaccine can actually roll out late 2020/early 2021, who gets it first?

Assuming it looks effective and safe, how do I get myself at the top of that list?

I don't have many powerful friends but I might be willing to pay well over $1k (but probably not $10k) if the vaccine is good. No idea if that's enough to get me in the game

Get a job in healthcare. They will certainly be first (and rightly so). Public servants who cannot isolate/work remotely (like police and military) will likely be next.
