Oh yes...
I live a stone's throw from a massive homeless population, and if there is going to be one place where people ought to worry, especially with the relatively chili weather, it would be any area where the homeless are living. They are sleeping outside, super vulnerable, and since Hollywood, Santa Monica, etc, are populated, people indoors would be equally as vulnerable. It's doubly bad because these homeless hotspots tend to have loads of tourists.
No one in downtown or Hollywood is walking around with masks. Yeah, the marathon has a lot of people watching, but it's nothing like the crush of people you see in these areas on a typical Saturday night. The various clubs and bars are packed cheek to jowl. If it was going to spread fast, it would have already done so. There has been a few major events in downtown that have not been canceled as it is.
Last night, I did a set at a club. There was about 2 thousand people in a relatively tiny room with steam being sprayed all over. Guys and gals rubbing bodies, holding hands, kissing, and shaking hands.
And before you say it's nothing but young kids that goes to these bars, clubs, and events, no, not even close. We also have the artwalk in downtown coming up this Thursday. It'll be the usual cluster**** of people of all ages, walking around in relatively chili weather.
Life is going on, and a marathon would hardly be the only and largest vector that any of us would really have to worry about. It always sucks for traffic, and honestly, I never once met someone who went to see a marathon. It's about the most minor LA event I could think of.

It's truly upsetting to see this virus turn into a political and virtue signalling situation.
