i'm planning on it. they still wear masks, but i don't think it's a very safe environment. i just feel like i have to live life, and make money
Arrived at the casino last night. First time really out in over a year, other than a few family things and going to stores. Went straight to my room and bed last night, lol, but about to head down and get a little gamble on. Reservations at the restaurant tonight. That will be my first time eating out since this all started. Not too excited about it, I don't miss eating out at all, but have to use up 2 Diamond Dinners! No way I'd be doing this without the comfort of being vaccinated. Wish me luck.

I've started the process of trying to de-program myself from the throes of covid times, but it is definitely going to be a process. I have literal feelings of dread being in enclosed spaces with randoms(not store, more like dive bar/restaurant) that I really need to start breaking at this point.

I still believe the 40% not getting vaccines are going to be the death knell for many restaurants because they will keep exposing employees to covid and that will keep having the businesses close down for days at a time. Rinse and repeat until the only two options are Chili's and Applebee's.

Same. I went in a Buccees yesterday and it was insane how many people were maskless and DGAF. A guy in an EMT uniform walked in maskless and coughing while I was in the checkout lane. A month or so I would have been freaking out and never stepped foot inside after seeing all the maskless faces. It was between Dallas and MLYland, so maybe MLY's accounts of E Texas are more accurate than I gave her credit for. (Buccees is like a Stuckeys from way back when on steroids).

This clarification cleared up absolutely nothing and I live just a few states over in AZ.

My two weeks was yesterday. Flying on Tuesday for the first time since March 7th last year, and going to Vegas for the last weekend in April. Can’t wait!

I've had tinnitus since receiving dose #1 of Moderna. That was two weeks ago, not sure if I'll be getting the second dose unless this goes away.

It’s a giant gas station/rest stop. Mostly in small towns along major highways in TX. Tons of pumps and super clean restrooms. Started off as kind of a “best rest stop ever” gimmick, got super popular, kind of like a mini WalMart now. I’ve basically never driven by or gone in one and not seen it super crowded.

Got take out from a local restaurant last night and the place was PACKED, every seat at every table was full and everyone was 60+ with only the employees wearing masks. Our county has a 25% occupancy limit so don't know why they allowed it to be full. Owner is loaded and does the place for "fun" so it's not like he was hurting for the business.

I got takeout from a restaurant last night as well. I would estimate 30% of employees and 10% of patrons had masks. We have had very conflicting 'mandates' in AZ where our trumpist governor is saying no masks while the cities themselves are saying yes.

They still had every other table empty while people were waiting outside, so they were still doing social distancing, just first place I've been where the employees were obviously told my management they didn't need to wear them. Felt odd.

How can we so far into this and major news sources still completely fail to understand the math behind vaccines. This is from CNN:

Quote:
In addition, real world studies of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines show they are only 90% protective against the coronavirus, not 95% as reported in clinical trials. Translated into reality, that means for every million fully vaccinated people who fly, some 100,000 could still become infected.
90% effectiveness does not in any way, shape or form mean that for every million people who do anything, 100,000 of them will be infected. If 10% of people who took a flight were going to get infected pre-vaccine (which is insane and way too high), it would mean that pre-vaccine 100,000 of them would have gotten infected and now only 10,000 of them would.

Also, the 90% effectiveness using real world data is probably wrong too, but that doesn't irk me nearly as much as totally misunderstanding the basic math of vaccine effectiveness numbers.

The problem is efficacy is not well defined for these kinds of things. Is it 90% can never get COVID no matter what, or 90% won't get COVID if exposed to someone with COVID?

And if it is well defined, the general public has no ****ing idea what the definition actually is.

Regardless, 90% effectiveness is incredible. The flu vaccine for the 2014-2015 season had a 19% effectiveness and a 10% effectiveness in 2004-2005.

Efficacy is ideal conditions and effectiveness is real word conditions. Being 5% worse seems pretty good to me.

Yeah, ignoring the actual numbers, all anyone really needs to know is that these are kick ass vaccines. Just do it.

Why?

Tinnitus certainly sucks for Tuma, and I feel for them. I’m hoping/guessing it’ll clear up at some point. However, that side effect is incredibly rare. The odds of something fatal or long term happening from the vaccines are so insanely low. INSANELY LOW.

Potentially catching COVID presents many more risks than taking the vaccine.

I hope Tuma gets their second shot. And even if something like that happened to me, I’d still be urging people to get vaccinated. Nothing in life is 100% except death. It’s just a matter of how we get there.

Someone in my Facebook feed shared this graphic. Last week was Spring Break for lots of Michigan schools, I wonder how many people who just got back are going to follow this advice -- one percent?

I might even want to take the under on 1%, if you remove the fully vaccinated group from the analysis.

I developed tinnitus about a week after my first Moderna dose. It was really bad for a couple weeks, wasnt able to sleep much at all. Had my second dose a little over 2 weeks ago. Tinnitus still comes and goes but hasnt been nearly as bad. I have seen 3 different ENT's, and all 3 of them said they dont think there is any connection between the vaccine and the tinnitus, but I am skeptical. I feel for you, tinnitus is absolutely brutal

There are some threads online that have people suffering from tinitus after the vaccine. For ex see the comments on this article:

https://www.drugdiscoverytrends.com/...-vaccinations/

Interestingly I read that the guy who founded Texas Road House committed suicide because he had such terrible tinnitus, which they suspect was caused by the Covid virus itself. So there is likely some sort or inflammatory/immune component to it.

Anyway hope it goes away soon. There is a vaccine adverse effects reporting site (VAERS I believe) where you can report these types of side effects. May be worthwhile to report it if you suffered tinnitus or any other non-standard symptom.

1st shot in. Only been a few hours but no weirdness to report.

The only anxiety inducing thing was for the first time in a solid year, I was in a small enclosed area with 11 other people waiting out the 15 minute mandatory observation time. The whole time I was thinking, sure hope that shot starts working fast.

Does this mean that we should be trying to get the Johnson and Johnson vaccine? The tinnitus seems to only come with the Moderna and Pfizer shots, which are both mRNA vaccines. Or it could just be J&J schills trying to make their competitors look bad online.

I'm fully vaccinated (waited the two weeks after my second shot) and am now doing basically anything I want.

Probably not the smartest approach and I hope it works out but yeah, I've been to a large Bull and Oyster roast, been to several bars/restaurants to see live music and have enjoyed myself.

I'm really testing the vaccine's efficacy.

Is there a readily available antibody test or something to check my status?
