The more I read about the AZ trial, the most screwed up it looks. Because the half dose was just at one site, it really messed up the results. Patients who got the half dose were apparently not remotely balanced demographically by any of the controls that they normally use. They appear to have cherry picked their data (they are only reporting roughly half of the participants in the Brazil arm, for reasons that are not at all clear). My Twitter feed of epidemiologists seem to doubt that they will meet the standard required for FDA approval at all. The Wired story has a pretty good overview of the problems that have been pointed out so far.

Sure. Like the theory of gravity is "just a theory." After all, it could just be that there are big magnets or hungry ghost at the center of the earth that pull things towards them. Doesn't have to be some weird unproven basic force.

Saw a mass exodus of 20-somethings with suitcases in my apartment building yesterday to meet their maskless parents by the car. We've already had a couple residents and security staff test positive this week - guess I won't be using any common spaces for the foreseeable future.

I clearly don't for a minute thing that the COVID-19 thing is in anyway a man-made thing purely made with the intent of bringing down the USA or the West in general.

But man, if I was designing a man made thing to try and bring down individualism/prove that the authoritarian regime is best it would look a bit like this.

also, if you're "most infectious right about when symptoms start to develop" that means you're most infectious before you get tested! or even worse right after you get a false negative
